Cool Stamping on Curtains?

Has anyone ever stamped on curtains? A little background....I have some plain curtains in my living room. I want to redecorate with some curtains that have bold geometric shapes but don't want to pay out alot of money for new curtains since these curtains are a nice neutral color. What type of stamping medium would I use? I'm also trying to figure out how I can make my own foam stamps since I'm looking for very large size stamps. Any help would be much appreciated.

I did some a few years ago. Use large solid stamps, foam or rubber, and use a high quality fabric paint. Be careful not to get the paint on too thick, as it will smear when you stamp. You will need to clean the stamp often with wet paper towels (if you use stamps with no wood, you can rinse them under running water). To decide on your design, stamp your images on scrap paper first, cut out and move around on the curtain panel until you like the spacing and layout. Make tiny pencil marks where you will be stamping. Have a layer of newspaper under your curtains as you stamp to catch "soak throughs" and for a stamping cushion. Follow the directions on the paint bottle for heat setting to make the paint washable. Have fun!

I stamped on my DS's curtains many years ago---I wanted a certain color polka dots on a certain color fabric, LOL I used a SU stamp and craft ink and went to town---they came out great, now granted, I never washed them(they only were up for two years) But go for it, make them whatever you want. I do recommend using a fabric covered cardboard backer to keep it stiff and stop bleed throughs

I haven't looked for this stuff but apparently you should be able to get it at any good craft store - back when I learnt how to carve stamps we did it with linoleum this looks much easier. http://www.atlasquest.com/tutorials/...materials
