Default Ribbon Storage

I have a neat storage solution for ribbon that I stumbled upon the other day. I posted about it with pics on my blog today. You can take a look here if you want to check it out: Cat's Ribbon Storage - New Idea

Wow!! I love to find new uses for stuff, or use something at least two or three times before I throw it away.

What a GREAT idea!! Thanks for sharing.

(the most fun recycle item i am into right now is any kind of plastic container. like the hillshire farms turkey containers or milk jugs. i cut the sides off and put them through my bigshot and make flowers with them.)

Cool. I never thought of using milk jugs. We have a deposit on them here, so back to the depot for a refund, but I think for the 25cents I can cut up a couple. Thanks for the idea.

so clever! I'd love to store my ribbon like this but the last thing I need these days is donuts!!! Maybe I'll find something else with similar packaging to try...

LOL. You have reminded me of an old plan that I must get to.

I was going to cut milk bottle with a buckle type Sizzix die, punch at the top and hang from a large jump ring to card my small ribbon lengths then hang inside a cupboard door.

My husband had a great idea for ribbon storage and made this for me on my cupboards here is a picture. It is easy to see the selection and take down what I need and they dont unwind.

I wish I could do that here. We rent our house right now, so I can't attach anything to walls or cupboard doors that would leave holes or marks. Other than small nail holes for pictures or clocks, our lease specifically states we can't do that sort of thing.

I love the donut container idea. But...we don't eat any of that. So, I need the containers and no donuts! This would sure solve alot of my problems, as I just bought some jetmax cubes and I am not liking the ribbon in there, without the dividers, which I can't find!

Gonna have to work on this. I guess i could always go buy the donuts and not eat them. The price of $1 is ok. But, I truly HATE to through away perfectly good food.

Donate the donuts to a shelter or take them to church on Sunday morning. That should get rid of them. I looked, and my Wal*Mart doesn't sell donuts in those packages. It might be worth asking if they package the donuts in the store. If they do, a nice manager might let you purchase just the packaging at a better price. I, for one, know that i would jump on a cheap way to store my ribbon without it getting dusty.

I was thinking about this since the Walmart I shop at has a bakery in the store, so I may be able to convince the bakery manager to sell me a bunch of the containers.

Default Angel7 Need more info

The trays look like an idea I may like to try. I could not see what they were made from, however. I am thinking they look lik abs pipes cut in half.

I saw on one of the Jetmax cubes threads that ribbon spools fit nicely into the drawers with the dividers. After having DH mount the raingutter for me, I was thinking of switching. I did get lucky though. I 'HAD' to move my sewing machine and it just happen to be in front of the raingutter. So I 'HAD' to take it down the raingutter. Since I am uncertain of where to mount it up, I'm holding off for now and storing it in the Jetmax cubes.

This idea actually is in the JET MAX storage cube topic. Someone there had it posted and I ran right out to copy it. THANKS BABYDAL57!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My ribbon is neat and sorted by color, and unlike most of you, I don't have tons of it. Which, makes it easier to do this. For those of you who love ribbon and have walls of it, this probably won't work.
Because of my limited budget, I find that I don't over buy so as a result I am having an easier time than most in organizing my stuff.

Hope this helps someone!
Paula
