Heidi Swapp came out with a tool for distressing edges. I am going to get it because I ruin my nails if I have a swap with distressed edges. The bone folder just isn't quite the same.

I LOVED that notebook!.... but back to the thread.... I use my nail of bone folder also! Tearing, then using your nail is another great distressed look! HTH!
I have the Making Memories distressing tool. It basically has a razor blade set into a plastic wedge. You could probably just use a razor blade if you wanted to, but I think the tool is fun. It's only a couple of bucks. I got mine at AddictedtoRubberStamps.com They ship really fast and are great to do business with. If you get the tool, I've found that I like to scrape it at an angle, otherwise it slices into the paper too much.
Location: In my Happy Place with no one bothering me....I hope!

This is an amazing distressing tool! A toddler can also distress your furniture, cabinets, etc, etc....... might just as well use them for your cardmaking!! LOL!!
I have used the cutting side of a pair of my Cutter Bee scissors. I just hold the scissors open and run the blade against the side of the paper. With the same scissors, I also cut little notches and redistressed the notches. Here's an example:
I have the pink edge distresser I picked up at my LSS. It's the best $.99 I've spent lately. I've tried a bunch of the other methods to distress, but I couldn't get them to work for me. <shrug> Maybe being one handed has something to do with it.

I just saw the pink distressing tool in the March Paper Crafts -- I'd never seen that one before -- good to know that it works. Can't wait to find one! I've been using my bone folder but I find that it doesn't distress enough for my taste --
I hate using my nails because my nails always end up getting distressed, too! I have weak nails so they tend to split easily. Anyway, I've used the bone folder but am going to start looking for the distressing tool. Glad I found this thread!
Awhile back (a week or two), some brilliant person suggested using the PC orange peeling tool for this job...I grabbed mine from the kitchen and have been using it ever since.
