I have read numerous posts where people say they have this or that and have never used it .
I rip open a package the minute I get it to try it and use it. I don't have any tools or accessories such as embossing folders, dies or ink, etc that I have never used . Even when I get a new stamp I can't wait to stamp and color it.
I guess some people buy things and save them for the future.
Which are you? A save it or use it now person?

I'm a "save it for later" type and feel like it's Christmas or my birthday when I finally get around to opening or using the saved item! I'm the same with clothes, they're in my closet with the tags still on them. On the other hand, my daughter cuts the tags off on the way home from the store and has been known to change in a fast food rest room! And she would never save anything to use later, it has to be now.
Oh Lordy Even when I have new Copic colors coming I have a couple of images all stamped waiting for the mail so I can try them as soon as I have them out of the mailing box LOL
I do have paper and ribbon I have not used.

I think I'm a use it now gal. If I get a couple sheets of dsp, I try to make cards with it right then. Probably because I have the idea in my head and if I let the paper sit, the idea will vanish.
I wish I the latter but I'm not. I save things for the "perfect" project. *sigh* After 8 years of papercrafting, you'd think I'd realize that there *is* no perfect project!!!
So far, I am a user not a saver. I don't think anything I have is still in the wrapper...well, except paper! For some reason, I think the world is going to run out of paper one day and when they do, I will not have that piece that I want. And I save the smallest scraps!! I figure they can be used with a punch or something. My kids make fun of me "Hey Mom, I saw a scrap of paper on the floor and didn't want you to FREAK OUT so I put it in a zip lock baggie to preserve it!" haha

I used to be a saver, but now I have no problem using stuff, even if it is my last sheet of a specific pretty paper. I have accumulated so many pretty papers and everything else that I don't feel like anything is soooo special that I can't use it. Unfortunately I don't create fast enough to look like I use my stuff!
Can I be both?
I tend to immediately use things like tools, stamps, markers, adhesive, ink and cardstock.
But I'm a saver when it comes to special embellishments, the ones I buy with a certain project in mind.
For instance, I have a 3-year-old package of Jolee's dimensional stickers that I look at almost every day, but haven't used. They look like miniature Anaheim Angel's uniforms. I plan to use them for a special page for my oldest son's scrapbook. Why haven't I done the page? I'm afraid I'm going to mess it up. So, I'm still waiting for the right skills and the perfect layout idea to magically come my way.
I need to remind myself that God did not guarantee that I'll live until I'm 80 or even until tomorrow. So I'd better start putting together those special pages now, so my kids (both grown) will have them after I'm gone.
Unfortunately I am a saver. I see things I must have now since they are going to disappear tomorrow you know, lol! Most of the time I don't have an idea in my head that moment, but I like it so I buy it. Sigh....
Barbara Jay, you ask the most interesting questions. Love it when you start a new thread.
I was a collector, which made me a saver, because I bought so much stuff, I couldn't possibly use even some of it at the time.
No more! Life's too short - I dig right in and use it! I've learned to "play" again because it's only paper or ink or whatever. I've given away, donated or sold a lot of my stash, and it's freed me to use the things I really want to use, and get rid of the stuff I don't.

My former MIL would always say as she openned any gift, "OH I love it!!!! I'm going to 'save it for good.'" She's getting up there in age. I always thought to myself, "when is good?" and what if today was/is her last day??????
I use everything. I don't "save anything for good."
I'm a "use it now" gal!
This thread reminds me of an old story about the woman who bought a "good" slip. She was saving that beautiful piece of lingerie for a special occasion. Well, years went by and every time one of her daughters asked her about that new slip, she'd tell them she was saving it for a special occasion. To make a long tale shorter, I'll cut to the chase and tell you that they buried her in it, still with the tags on!

Unfortunately, most times this is me, too. I want to be a "use it right away" but I always have the "perfect" project in mind that never seems to get done. I'm trying to get better at it, but I haven't found the magic button to push to make it happen.

Ha! Sounds like my post/my former MIL. She is still living (bless her----and wishing her a continued long life); but when she does pass, they WILL be burying her with lots of things with tags on! She was the poster child of "I'm saving it for GOOD."
Oh darn, I never mean to be a saver, it's just that I don't always get a round to it...still have dies in the package and a really neat little pink book binder that hasen't made a single cut in anything. In my own defense I will say I buy and use a lot of pretty paper .

Can I be both, a user and a saver. I would have to say I save paper and embellishments (because I buy too much) but inks and stamps I use right away. Spellbinders and embossing folders, a little of both use and save for the right time/project.
I used to be a saver, but I'm learning to use my stuff and enjoy it now. I've saved a lot of paper and embellishments waiting for the "right" layout or card; and by the time I get around to that "right" project, I'm finding that I don't really like those products as much as I used to. So now I try to use the good stuff as I want to, and not "save it for good" (love that expression).
I recently bought a Smash journal and a few embellishments to go with it. I'll admit that I had a hard time taking the plastic off and sticking stuff in it. For some reason, the "old" me kept thinking that I might ruin it if I put something on any of those pristine pages. (Oh, the horrors of imperfection!) Well, I took a deep breath, cut the plastic holding the pen/glue stick, and decorated the cover and opening page with Washi tapes and decorative packing tape. After that, the rest was easy. I now have an inspiration journal, where I paste ideas and clippings from my scrapbooking and stamping magazines, along with notes and ideas I have for future projects. It's so liberating!
I also rip my stuff right open right away once I get them home and out of the bag. The thought of having unused stamps in my stamp room? no way no how!!
I too am always waiting for the perfect project. If I use it and a better project comes along I won't have it. Ultimately it never gets used. sigh...
I am actually trying to work on this issue.
I'm more of a use it now type of person - too afraid that if I wait till I get around to it, I won't like it anymore or (like patterned paper) it will be out of style by then!
I used to be a saver...but not any more! I'm enjoying everything while it is "in" or while it is fresh in my mind. Using it and enjoying it much more now!!!
This is hard...I think I get new stuff at such a rapid pace there is no way I could actually USE it..when I do stamp I have lots of new stuff to pick from...lol
Blessings.

I don't save it for later for any big reason but I normally don't have time to "play" right when I get my supplies. I also only stamp for a needed occasion. I don't make cards ahead. I do like to use up my supplies and I don't worry if I use them that I won't be able to get it again.
This thread has reminded me though that I have those felt flowers and crocheted flowers that I just love and need to use on the next card I make!!!! I have never used the crocheted flowers and have had them a year.

I love using my stuff. The thrill for me isn't in the buying, It's all about ripping it open, cutting it up and inking it up. On my journey to being a 'perfect' crafter, I'll be practicing, practicing, practicing at making a good card with all the stuff I buy.
I have what I consider a small stash of paper. If I was to stack it up I'm thinking it'd only reach the lowly hieght of about 6". It gives me great pleasure to exhaust the use out of a sheet of paper. Today I liberated some older paper from oblivion and turned it into something useful. YAY. I love see the left over bits of paper in my waste bin. It tells me that I've not been wasteful (saving??) and I've also been productive. My personal goal with my consumables is to use it all up til it's gone.
If something doesn't get used when I buy it it's probably because I just got too busy.
I have been a 'saver' for years. Like a couple of others, I would get stuff and then keep hanging onto it for the perfect project. Trying to break those hoarding habits and starting to use that stuff up! Figure I have to make room for more, right?

Ditto!
I used to actually fret about using some things and now I just think it is neglect not to use them.
Hi, I'm Siobhan. I am a paper hoarder. I can't bring myself to cut into pretty, pretty paper. When I do, it screams at me.
I am trying to be better...not buying any paper...using what I have...hence the whole "Use It Tuesday" challenge. It was made by me because I have issues! LOL

I am SO GLAD so many of you use it!!
Hi Siobahn...... (said in tone of a help group welcome!).
I used to be a saver, but now I use what I want because I figure I can always order more if I need it (unless it's a retired item, but then I just think that something new will be coming out).
I'm a totally use-it-now person because I know I can tire out of things easily so the more I use it now the better. There are no guarantees that I'll use/like it later YKWIM?
I am slowly getting over the hoarding and using stuff NOW......it's hard sometimes when the paper is so pretty! Sometimes I feel like taking it, petting it and calling it "My Precious"
