I am in the midst of making a card It's still missing something?? I need to spruce it up!! What can I do to jazz up my card? Sorry, I dont know how to post a pix!! :-(
Would love to see the card. I say spruce it up with ribbon tied into a knot bow. Then maybe a Pretty Pin (stick pin) through the bow? CTMH has those Pretty Pins with the Pearl that would look great on a card. I bought some but of course they're being "saved."
So if we had enough people (, we would each only have to purchase one pack to do this? I would be interested. A consultant at TAC did this with the DP and the cardstock (we didn't get samples of it) but she just purchased it all, cut it, labeled them all, and sold them. I think your idea is great -even if we had to purchase two packs. I would even be willing to do it if you are busy... They really wouldn't even have to be as big as the 6x6 samples we got so we could make 2 or 3 for everyone out of them - one to keep at your crafting area, one for customers to look at and maybe one for classes? Just a thought.
The smaller sizes aren't a bad thought at all. For me personally, I would like 6x6 just because of the pattersn (easier to tell what they really look like on a larger piece.)
I figured 8 people because you can get 8 6x6 squares out of each different design in a level 2 kit...so no waste. Instead of getting the whole kit, you would get a 6x6 square of each paper sample from the Level 2s (6 squares per Level 2 pack representing each one of the papers in it.) We pay for one Level 2 each (at the discount price), regular tax & shipping, and then the additonal shipping to get the squares to you...likely in the $5 priority envelope.
I don't want to do this to sell them, that's for sure! We'll use our discoutns, just like always. I'm not looking to make money off this, just wondering if others are interested as well.
Like I said, no pressure, just throwing it out there for anyone interested.
I'm only looking at the patterned paper in the L2 kits for this "project," so I feel I can safely hoard that new stuff! :p
Oh, I can better you both. I at least opened all that BOGO cstock (caressed it, became one with it) and then put them in a beautifully safe Cropper Hopper Paper file (love love love these files.)

You have no idea how hard I'm laughing at your description right now!! I know it all too well. Mike does it (mockingly) when I walk into a scrapbook store when we're out of town. He calls it paper porn.

Hope that helps a little bit.
Benjaman, I hadn't thought about using ribbon with a stick pin!! I have never used the stick pins, but I really should buy some! I have heard of people doing that in the ribbon knot!! Great idea!! You also cracked me up with the opening of the paper pack, caressing, it and becoming 1 with it!! What a riot!!
Well ladies and gents, it's time for the Real Housewives Reunion, part 1. Yes, I am addicted to trash TV when I am not watching and recording things on the History Channel for my class/lessons. Have a great night all!
Well call me a night owl but i have been up talking to my best friend crafting of course but time flies by when having fun. so i thought i would see what everyone has been up to quite a lot of posts tonight.
I had to chuckle Benjaman about you recieving the Caprice but seems like it may come out for a special occation of creativity, you know the problam is the papers are that nice in some of the level 2 kits people like to look at them, stare at them, FEEL them and like you say STROKE them you know if we were not talking crafts we would be locked up in a room for naughty talk.
Now moving swiftly on to the CTMH papers i have told my group if you cannot bare to use the level 2 kits ,treat yourself to using 6 sheets of background and texture papers and save the other 6, then use 5 sheets of 12x12 cardstock sheets and save the other 5 . Now maybe i have given someone an idea who really finds it hard to use those lovely level 2 papers in the packs by cutting into them.
I dug into my consultant kit today. I love the stamp sets. I need to reorganize my stamping space and I'm getting the Plano 827 on Monday providing that it's still in stock for my CTMH stuff. I need to get it out of the box and put it all away. I'm going to spend tomorrow getting my area organized then I'll be able to play when I get some free time from writing my books.
Thank you so much, I'm trying to add it to my signature, we'll see if it works. Otherwise it's http://barbraotten.blogspot.com
Hi Barbra. I follow your blog, so it's fun to see you on SCS. Maybe you could post a link to your blog or put it in your siggy so others could see your great tutorials.[/QUOTE]
Teach,
I thought I'd pop in and share with you that yes, your idea of samples is a GOOD one.. and actually done quite a bit with the consultants.
Before corp. came out with the 6x6 samples
(which by the way, they finally did after lots of begging from consultants! which means they DO listen to us!!)
there was a consultant who cut 3x3 pieces of each paper pack. I bought those, and made 9x9 pages for our smaller albums. That way, my customers could "see" each paper pack, with the cardstock, and feel the real albums.
Anyway, long ramble to say.... YES! your idea is a good one!
I have a question...but it requires a little lead in. Indulge me if you will.
Consultants...especially newer ones like me - you know that 6x6 paper sampler that was in the kit? The one with the ring? Not the smaller version of the solid CS colors...the patterned paper.
I use the solid color samples also in the kit frequently. Of course, I use it after my homemade ghetto CTMH combos keyring. I had someone ask me the other day if I had "x" paper pack because it looked "interesting" but couldn't really get a feel for it from the Idea Book or online. I had the very same issue with a different pack (and no, I did not have the one she was asking about.) The flash came across my mind of "wouldn't it be great to add to that 6x6 do-hickey Corp sent so I had a sample ring at my fingertips...not just for me, but for friends & customers who are like me and want to see & feel it." So I planned it all out...and realized I would be spending an awful lot of money to get this accomplished for every Level 2 paper pack. Even I thought it was a bit much...and that doesn't happen often, lol!!
There's a point, I promise.
THEN I though..."hey! I wonder if any of the new Consultant's have this same issue and would want to join in? We could get 8 squares from each patterned piece in a Level 2 kit, and if 8 of us ordered a different kit it wouldn't cost us but the price of ONE Level 2 pack." We could send it all to one person to cut and mail so we aren't paying 7 rounds of shipping each.
I'll volunteer to handle it if we have 8 interested people, but if someone else wants to do it that's fine with me, too. I also don't think you need to be a Consultant to participate...non-Consultants like to feel and see paper up close & personal, too, right?! ;) This could be a cr@ppy idea, and that's OK if you think so. I'm tough, I can take it.
The ONLY issue I haven't resolved is what to do with the extra cardstock from the packs. It will be too costly to mail a few sheets of 12x12 paper to everyone. If I did the cutting and mailing I suppose I could "buy back" the sheets and the price we all pay would reflect that difference...
Good idea? Bad idea?
I haven't finished reading through the thread this morning, so somebody might have already mentioned this. You can still buy the 6x6 squares of the B&T's that were introduced in the Fall/Winter idea book. Not sure how many others would still be left over, as they did quite a retirement job at the end of the year. They're $1.95 for all the Fall/Winter B&T's. Most people, if they're not already buying all of the new paper packs, get the sampler so they can show hands on what the papers look like. Each time a new catalog comes out, they offer us the 6x6 ring of new papers.
You have no idea how hard I'm laughing at your description right now!! I know it all too well. Mike does it (mockingly) when I walk into a scrapbook store when we're out of town. He calls it paper porn.
LOL!! I'm telling you, Denise's husband could make a fortune in Stand Up!! LOL!!

Great to know! Thanks! Is there a special place or number I ned to order that when the new book comes out? (Now I'll just need to do the older papers...that are not yet retired!)
I just put up a long hello post here and it dumped....bummer....
Let me start over, I can't believe how this thread has has grown. Every time I don' have a chance to be here the post grows by leaps and bounds. I have only had a chance to skim the most recent posts and I find comics and "paper porn." wow :o)
Moving on to card making....I finally got a chance to get a card made this morning. It is posted in my gallery. I pulled out an oldish paper pack called Boom di Ada because I thought it worked well for spring. I have to finish up some more altered composition books for a gift store that is selling my work. Yippeee....they sold all of the books and some of the cards. I think I will take this card along with the finished books. I get a couple posted (hopefully) later today.
Take care and once again, thank you Andrew for keeping this thread going. It is so nice to have a place to call "home." I am looking forward to our "party" in a few weeks!

Ben started it. (See how I just totally ratted you out. If you were here you would see me wildly pointing my finger at you, too.) I learned "blame someone else" from some parents today. Thought I'd try it out in the real world and see if it works here, too. ;)
I'm a little confused - do you mean use just some of the pack in one sitting? I always do that, with the exception of if I'm making a 20 page album...then I need the whol pack plus extra CS. Otherwise, there would be no case for me to use it all unless I liked the way all of the papers matched all of the photos I have. It isn't a matter of using it sparingly. It's the disease of "collecting" it to look at and show off and dust once in a while.
PLEASE NOTE: My husband defines the term "collector" as "a hoarder." Silly, silly man...

Sally, are you just going to call TAC and tell them you resign, or can we go ahead and order the CTMH kit, and then sign out from TAC with a written letter or something?
I was a CTMH demo for 3 years. Loved the company and products but couldnt keep up with the minimums.
I wish you both well Sally and Karen, and I know you will enjoy CTMH as I did, but I am staying with The Angel Company.
Karen, you still have your angel number in your signature line. Are you changing your mind?

Thanks for the back up Amber!! I think 3x3 is perfect for the solid CS, I'd just enjoy larger sizes for the patterns as sometimes you (and by that I mean me) can't get an accurate visual of the paper. For example - the Veranda paper that's the off white with the blue flourish/birds (it isn't in front of me, forgive any inaccurate description) - a 3x3 would likely not show you a true representation of the actual 12x12 sheet.
Maybe I'll post on the Corp BB as well. I will end up doing this, either a few at a time myself or in a group. It's great to know I can buy the next "new" round already in the 6x6-on-a-ring format!
You're too kind. I would have used rat fink. Maybe even rat fink b@st@rd. But then I have a potty mouth. ;) And I'm mean like that.
Y'all are just cracking me up! I needed a good laugh. The paper porn thing is just too hilarious....and probably more accurate than I care to admit! When my new stuff comes, my girls always like to open it with me (ages 16, 13, and 11). As we're opening new paper packs one day, my 16 year old says "I love the smell of paper. Am I weird?". Maybe it's genetic. ROFL
Oh, and I've added another card to my blog. The Veranda paper pack is sooooo yummy looking. I may have to order another one!
QUOTE: -Thanks to Everyone who has posted of late this thread is most certainly growing and like the intro thread title states WHO LOVES CLOSE TO MY HEART AND WHY but still we get the odd person who pops on here now and again and says how close CTMH is to their heart. Then decides to state really they are a demo from the company i cannot stand, and like everyone who reads on hear very genine reasons i cannot stand the competitor in question. But unfortunately like i keep repeating, the competitor company WONT get any advertising or promoting on this thread .
Karen Barber its a crying shame you never saw the potential in CTMH because if you did you would be happy posting with ALL these wonderful people on this thread.
It is very sad you have not spoke about why you liked CLOSE TO MY HEART, even when you say you started your journey with dots i dont think the CTMH fans on hear want to read about your heart now belongs to the other DSA company which you are building your career with. Maybe one day your feeligs for returning to a genuine caring company may possibly happen , but from what i have learned once you get drowned in sticky glue from a black umberella of a company, it usually takes drastic measures to remove the glue from oneself.
Andrew Overton) END QUOTE
WELL, Andrew Overton, you certainly took my statement out of context and took a perfectly innocent comment totally out of context, twisted it around and turned it into something bad. I can only imagine that most of your CTMH friends thought you were pretty out of line there sir, and I can only say that I was trying to say something positive. You have some real issues that you should really deal with because you sound really really bitter and that in the end will hurt you more then anyone else. I wish you the best as you work thru your feelings, and move on, should you ever decide to. I do not feel that being a consultant for one company makes you enemies with another, and by the private msgs I got concerning your rude post about me, there are others who agree. Just for everyone elses sake, I hope you all know that I did not mean to say anything at all negative toward CTMH. In fact, I was just doing what the thread said which is share what you love about CTMH. Nothing more, nothing less. I will not be back to see what Andrew has to say about this because I have better places to use my energy and somehow I do not think he will be apologizing. Again, I still thank CTMH for teaching me to love stamping!!
Don't know if I'll be back on tonight. One of my kids (students) was shot last night. Can't say it's the first time by any means, but it's big news because of his Dad's past. It's been all over the news here, surprisingly. (I work in an economically depressed, gang infested, geenrally crime ridden area. No joke. I will be totally surprised if this was nto gang related.) Still, need to mentally prep for any retaliation that may be heading our way among the student body.
If anyone is interested in doing the 6x6 samples as previously described feel free to PM me. No rush.
I will return to rat out Ben some more tommorow. if he does anythign in my absence please PM me so I be more effective in my tattling. ;) 'Night all!
Well just what i thought , everytime we get any confrontations on this thread guess what its a SU Demo yes ive said the word. And quite honestly i could not care less who pmd you , if my memory is correct you were on the thread MR TELLS ALL, and you know what you certainly did tell all last December, in the end i had to bring some UK HUMOUR to get the dam thread shut down.all because some nasty SU biatches stirred the fuel pot and dragged my name on a thread which i was not the guilty person who started itor even wanted to post on it.
Then you come on here spoiling what is normally a peaceful fun thread which if my memory is still correct people have actually used the words THANK YOU ANDREW.
I started this thread to get topic on CTMH not SU yes ive said the word again.
you deliberately come on here, to stir the pot and you know if ONE OF YOUR SPIES IS READING THIS REPORT IT BACK, ive simply past careing.
All in all anyone reading this post by me can a least agree its not a question of who loves who its always i love SU and stuff any other company lets just post on a nice thread say a bit then dig the dirt and fuel the fire .
If anymore demos from other companys wish to cause trouble on this thread anymore, i shall have no alternative to report each individual and get the trouble makers moderated by cause of action.
If anyone who posts on this, our CTMH thread as any issues with me regarding the latest incident, PLEASE feel free to PM me, because im getting the impression somone thought i was out of line, which im sorry im not . Im sick and tired of trying my dam hardest to get crafters to become friends and hopefully become a family of CTMH fans. Im tired of every other company getting praises and CTMH seems like a foreign body what is looked down upon by so called other superiors.
I Apologise to all the people who come on here and post and have to read my words of harshness, you all know i genuinely care about CTMH and thats what this thread is about , if this thread is BORING and somone wants to chat about anything else, then feel free to post on other threads there are a multitude to choose from.
i could say more, im not a BITTER person, I JUST DONT SUFFER FOOLS GLADLY.

Denise my group some of them love papers but sadly they dont like cutting into them thats why i posted about them to use half the level 2 paper packet that way they could look at the papers without having to use them up.I know its mad but some people just love to look at paper must admit i do but i promise i use it, love creating with it and dont just sit looking at it
You have to remember in the UK scrapbooking is not as popular as cardmaking, so thats why i was refering to paper for cardmaking with stamping too.
Jenn you are not weird i too like the different smells of paper when you open up the ziplock bag the fresh print does smell and i love to look at all the contents and count them just in case one is short or damaged.
Cindy thankyou for your encouraging words glad somone is happy with me as a person and genuinely does apreciate what i have done.
Amber glad you popped on line again and posted and thanks too to EVERYONE who posts on a regular basis no matter how big a post or small.
Just hope next time i click on line and come onto this thread the air will be sweet once again.
Regards Andrew

D - that is absolutely awful. Can't imagine it. Sending you good thoughts and hopes for all the strength you all will need.
Ohh, never one to let something go - rat fink bas*t*rd sounds point on.
I might be interested in the cstock left over from the level 2's if that's a possibility?
Jenn and Benjamin - love both of your latest projects on your blogs. Not intentionally ignoring other blogs; those are just the only 2 I've managed to look at recently...

Hi Everyone! I had a very enjoyable evening with some girlfriends...it was card nite, we played Canasta...a very old card game! Alot of fun! Jenn, I checked your blog, your card is very pretty! And as I scrolled down, I saw your card where you used the Treasure Life stamp set. I have started a card using that set, but have not had time to complete it, and it does need some bling or something. My darn day job is interferring with my play time! LOL...Denise...hugs to you, as you deal with the issues in your classroom. I will send up prayers for the student that was shot! We hear alot of that here in the Baltimore area as well. It's so sad to see our young people resort to this kind of thing! Benjaman, I liked your scrapbook page with your niece in it!! Too cute! You guys all crack me up with your humor of saving, your cardstock!! Well, it's late, I have a party tomorrow morning to attend...(at least the birthday card is made, and ready to go!) and I need to get to bed. Have a good nite!! Karen

I post this realizing you won't like my response, but I'm posting it anyway. I understand and respect your (what I can only describe as) hatred toward all things SU. I have a few companies (non-craft) that I feel as strongly about.
However, the poster in question did not - in my opinion - post anything negative about CTMH. Yes, she mentioned SU. But seriously - this is a public thread in a public forum. You can't kick people off because they don't share your opinion. And by kick them off I mean chastise them in a rude and way over the top manner when they did not do that first. The poster did not challenge anythign we, as a thread, feel about CTMH. She simply chose a diferent company, just as we all chose this one. She also did exactly what your thread title asked...posted why she loves - or loved - CTMH.
I agree about other companies posting nasty things...but this post wasn't one of them. I fear the Mods will shut the thread down if this continues. Perhaps a new "CTMH Only" thread should be started, just as many of the SU people have done (with that same title.)
Oh...and the resason I don't post what I create...I use SU card stock and markers or even stamps many times for cards, and I now you don't want to see them. It seems clear that you are also not interested in my CTMH scrapbooking, simply the narrow stance of "cards." So as I create those items with those narrow conditions I will post them. For me personally, you have made it clear that nothing else is welcome.
I liek this thread and the great people we have on here - all of us - but I have seen where "we" are getting a bad rap for this exact thing. Yes, the SU people did it, yes, they were nasty to me personally, and yes, they had to deal with a Mod over it. Don't we want CTMH to be represented as a company with a heart and not some crazed anti-everyone-else fringe?
