Default Prismacolors

Can you tell me what I need to work with gamsol/blender pens. I found 120 prismacolor watercolor pencils on ebay for 20.00 US. Is this what I need or what do I look for? Then I seen a 24 piece for $20.00 US. So what is the difference?

All I know the watercolor pencils will not work with Gamsol. Look for the Premier pencils.
I do not have my Prismas yet, but they are arriving soon!

You DO NOT want the watercolor pencils. They don't work well with Gamsol. You want the regular "Premier" pencils. Here is a link to a 24 piece set:

Hope this helps!

They won't work with Gamasol- so they aren't what you want.

But the Prismacolor water color pencils are great in their own right. They just do something different.

This listing is deceptive. What you actually get is 6 each of 20 different colors. I reported the listing to ebay, but I'm not sure they can do anything about it. It is misleading, though.

A regular 120 set has 120 different colors.

yes, be cautious on EBay!!
I looked for weeks at the different auctions for Prismas and MANY were just like that...deceptive! You need to read the auction through and make sure you are getting what you want.
Good luck!

So what should I expect to pay for these? What is 24's or 120's worth. By the way thanks for all the heads up.

The set of 120 runs $149.99 from Michael's. Usually the individual pencils are around $1.20 each in the stores. HTH!

I went to DickBlick.com and you can order open stock prismas and get just the colors you want. They're .92 ea and someone posted a list of prisma colors that matched the 48 su colors. That's pretty much all I wanted, not 120. Did get the metallic gold and silver prismas but they don't hold a candle to su's metallic pencils. They were out of stock on couple of the colors, but got most of them. Even w/ s/h it cost less then if I were to buy them open stock at my local Michaels.

I bought my set of 120 on ebay and paid about $54.99 for them...or $59.99...I can't remember exactly. But they were new in package and they came with a new package of Verithin pencils (still haven't opened those) and another new package of artist pencils (haven't opened those yet, either). I am really happy with my Prismacolors!

To bad Viking.com is no longer. A lot of us bought them last summer for like 40$ for the tin of 120! What a steal!

Maybe why Viking went out of business. I saw them for $149 at Michael's, like another poster said. I ight wait until you get a 50% off coupon for that store, or if you can find a great deal on ebay for the real assortment of the right stuff, then go for it.

I was in a pinch and bought a set of art pencils at HL, they are by Lyra and are called Rembrant Polycolor pencils. Don't remember how much I paid for them, they were on sale at the time. For my budget they were a little cheaper than prismas - although I would eventually like to get a set of prismas, but so far they work well for the coloring & blending!

I'm not sure if Aaron Brothers is still having their sale, but they have a 50% off sale twice a year! Definitely a good time to buy. Unfortunately the best link I could find is the following: http://www.aaronbrothers.com/app/locator
