I do have a question about Pinterest. I invited a friend of mine to join via her e-mail. She came over the house this morning and went on MY computer, found the invite and proceeded to follow the link and it wouldn't go anywhere. It would not open to Pinterest so she could sign up. My question is this: Would she have to be on her own computer (because of the IP address) to sign up via the invitation link???
Just a heads up here; on another board I look at, lots of newbies with only 1 or 2 posts were inundating the boards with post that said "I asked to join Pinterest a while ago and have not hear back yet; I'm impatient and can't wait any longer. Can somebody send me an invite?"
Lots of good natured, trusting people were sending invites to these TROLLS and were getting spam and such in their e-mail. The board finally caught on and people are no longer issuing invites to just anybody i.e. a NEWBIE.
I'm not accusing anyone here on this thread of being a troll, please don't think I am. This is just a heads-up post, because I think if the word is out that you can come here and get an invite to Pinterest (and give the wrong sort of person your e-mail) the spammers will be over here in droves.
Sorry this got long, but I like this message board, and don't want anyone to get spammed or the boards get clogged up with these spammers.
I also like Pinterest and love looking at all the cards and projects posted.
Is it possible to only view cards, or do you have to be a member?
I do lots of cards and participate on some of the exchanges here, however I have not gotten brave enough to post any of my cards. Hence the question.

I appreciate the invite I got from this viewing this board. I have been requesting an invitation from Pinterest for about 6 weeks and got no response from them whatever. I's sad that some people will feed off of this. Thank you Makalah for the invitation...I'm have a great time there!
In addition to the warning from wannabe above, I would also like to suggest that anyone who has posted their email address in this thread might like to edit their message to remove it after they receive their invite.
One way that spammers obtain an email address is to have an automated search that looks for valid email addresses within public forums. While you need to be a member here to post, anyone can view (and search) through here.

Doh, looks like that function doesn't exist - I'm sure there used to be an edit function but I can't see it any more so ignore that bit of useless advice.
Edit: found the edit function (lower right of a post) but looks like it is only available for a very short time after original posting.

Ohhh Pinterest is SOOO very addictive! I am finding so much great info-a little overwhelmed!!! -someone pins me-then I look at their's ..then I go to the sites from pins....I must have subbed to at least FIVE more blogs in the last 3-4 days! YIKES!!! LOVE IT!!!

Another way to circumvent the bots that hunt for email addresses posted on the web is to post them like this:
joseeblow(at)abcd(dot)com
or
joseeblow @ abcd . com
For a person who reads those, they would know to change the (at) to @ and the (dot) to a period...or to leave the spaces out...but a bot crawling the web would not automatically pick those up.

I was using it way back in the beta stage, but somehow forgot about it when I got my embroidery machine.... SO much more to Pin now though!!!! =)

Yes, use the "add" drop down list and upload. The list is next to "about" and your photo/name in the upper right hand corner. HTH

I have been a member of SCS for many many years..
Hopefully when you become a member of pinterest you can take your time to find out just how things work? so if your not to active it is ok at first!
