NY * Central New York Stamps Again 11/3/12 -- CLOSED
CNY Stampers Get Together
Saturday, November 3 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
First United Church of East Syracuse, 823 Franklin Park Drive, East Syracuse, NY
Do join us at our next Central New York Stampin' Get Together -- a full day of stamping fun!
Cost $25.00 per person ($27 via PayPal). Your registration must be paid no later than 5 pm on September 30 or be an early bird (September 22 deadline) and earn an extra door prize ticket. Mail your registration form and payment to me (info is in the registration form). There are no refunds, but you may offer your spot to someone else. Heres whats planned.
Mandatory Shoebox (Table) Project There will be table projects in the morning and the afternoon, so bring your idea and all the supplies (precut but not prestamped or prepunched) needed for making your project with your tablemates in the morning; another group will make your same card in the afternoon. Please use quality products. When our final count is in, you will know the table sizes and how many will be needed. You will need to bring four extra completed shoebox projects (which includes door prizes, hostess thank you, and one for your table so that everyone can follow it for directions). This project will generally be a full card, with layers and embellishment(s). Please provide any special adhesive that's needed. So, just to say it another way: Bring 4 completed projects + make up 20 packets of materials needed to make your project. Extra parts to fix any "oops" should also be provided. Make these something youd be thrilled to get yourself. Your projects should all be the same.
SPECIAL NOTE: Because you will be switching tables, but your projects staying behind, it will be important that you provide some basic directions for your project unless it is VERY obvious. Please include your name and SCS name as well. Thank you!
Swaps ALL SWAPS ARE OPTIONAL. Youll know how many to make when we post the final counts, and youll have plenty of notice since the deadline is well in advance of the event. Each swap will include a +1 for a door prize. The hostess and her assistant would also love to receive one of your swaps if youre so inclined.

Bookmarks (new swap) Final Count 20 -- Post #10
Cheryl (Love2Craft) will tell you about this one in Post #10.
Food Please indicate on the registration sheet the specific food item you will bring to share. Please dont just say food or whatever you need. Ideas: breakfast items, lunch items, including salads, desserts and snacks. We love to try your homemade food specialties! Bottled water and coffee will be provided. Please BYO soda.
Make & Take for All Because of doing shoebox projects in the a.m. and p.m., we will have only one or two large group projects. If you would like to provide one, please let me know your idea.
Garage Sale Bring your stamps and stamping supplies to sell or trade. Current Stampin Up! items must be offered for trade only; you can sell retired items. Sorry but we cant be responsible for missing items so bring things at your own risk.
Goodie Bags for everyone! You will again have the opportunity to pick out your own goodie bag items so send me a long list of your wishes on the back of your registration form. Please include lower cost items in your selections and lots of alternatives, particularly if you are picking from the clearance rack. If you need more guidance here, let me know. Those who dont send a list will have their goodies selected by me. Wouldnt you rather pick your own? Goodie bags will be as close in value as I can get them.
Door Prizes Donations from our own group are most welcome so let me know if youd like to make a door prize donation and what it is. Our participants are always so generous! We will be awarding the +1s from all of the swaps as well as the two sets of extras from the shoebox projects as door prizes. Well have another 50/50 raffle to support this for next time as well.
Gift Swap You dont have to sign up for this one, but if you would like to participate, bring a gift related to our stamping passion. Everyone who brings a gift to swap will also leave with one. Value on these should be in the $5-10 range, and stamped projects are always appreciated! If its something youd like to take home, its probably perfect! Be sure to include your name somewhere inside so the lucky winner knows who to thank. Wrap it up prettily to encourage stealing. REMEMBER: Stamping-related!!!
Other Please bring your own labeled items for your personal stamping needs, including your favorite adhesive. These are the items you just cant stamp without, like: bone folder, paper cutter/scorer, scissors, straight edge, stamp cleaner and whatever else you can't stamp without! Did I say adhesive????? Adhesive! You will likely need lots of it.
Make and wear a nametag with your name and your SCS name so that we know you on sight. There will be a nametag contest so keep that in mind when youre creating yours.
Don't forget your camera!
REMEMBER: Complete the registration form and forward with your $25 payment ($27 via PayPal) by 5 pm on September 30 or be an early bird and get yours in by September 22 for a chance at an extra door prize. All funds collected will be spent on the event. Your registration is complete when your payment is received. If you have any questions, please ask! Looking forward to seeing you in November.
Swap Etiquette -- These are some good general guidelines that I found on SCS. I hope everyone will take these guidelines seriously so that we all make and receive wonderful swaps!
These are also good guidelines to keep in mind for your shoebox project, except that you're providing materials to make a full card rather than just a front and you won't need a "recipe".
1) Quality work -- This isn't about the quantity of layers or embellishments (please do use at least one embellishment and two layers), or whether you are new at this or not. "Quality" means straight cuts with no crooked, fuzzy edges, tears, wrinkles, etc. (unless that is part of the design), attaching your layers straight (again, unless part of your design), stamping images clearly with fully inked stamps, etc. If you make a noticeable mistake while stamping your swaps, turn the cardstock over, or cover with another layer. Last of all, quality means to use cardstock that is a nice weight not some flimsy stuff that has the feel of construction paper.
2) "Recipes" -- appreciated but not required. This means: your SCS name; your IRL name; listing the colors, stamp sets and embellishment you used; any techniques or tips you want to include. If you choose not to include a recipe, please include at least your name so we know who made your fab creation. Avery labels work great, but a plain piece of paper or your personalized stamp work just as well.
3) The only one of these swaps requiring all current Stampin' Up! products is the demo quality swap. All other swaps can use any quality stamps, cardstock, inks, etc. This is not the time to unload your cheap cardstock!
4) Would you like to receive your swap or make your shoebox project? Then it's PERFECT!
5) Swap sizes: NVR card front & DQ -- smaller than 4.25 x 5.5, please. Recipes swaps are 6x6.
Please ask any questions you might have and someone will be sure to answer. We have all made a lot of great friends getting together at these gatherings so we hope you’ll join us at this one!
Resummarizing: Layers - at least two! Dig into those embellishments, give your fellow swappers a real treat! Put those punches to work! Have fun, try something different! Show some pride and put your name on the back!!
Food Info -- Please remember when making/purchasing your food item that you do not need enough to feed an army. There should be a very nice variety coming: donuts - cake - muffins - sticky buns - cookies - brownies - candy - chips & dip - specialty dips - casseroles/main dish items - salads and side dishes - bread & butter - cheese & crackers - fruit - and more.
So, my suggestion is to make/bring a "normal" amount not a super size. I am sure there will still be leftovers but everyone should be able to find something they like. If you don't believe that to be the case, please feel free to pack a sandwich. We do have a refrigerator and stove available and there are plenty of outlets to plug in crockpots. There will NOT be a microwave available unless someone brings it!
Drinks -- There will be bottled water and coffee. If you must have soda, please BYO.
REMINDER: If you are bringing something that is to be served HOT, please remember that there is NO microwave available. We do have access to a refrigerator and stove (with oven).
DIRECTIONS to First United Church of East Syracuse, 823 Franklin Park Drive. Get the specifics from mapquest.com or randmcnally.com. But, generally speaking, most everyone will be taking Rte. 481 (from 81, 690 or 90) and exiting at Kirkville Road WEST (exit 5W). Franklin Park Drive is way less than a mile from the exit and will be on your right. After the exit, you will pass one light, two gas stations at the corner where the light is, and a school (Bishop Grimes). The church is just a short way up Franklin Park Drive and will also be on your right.
If you have headed in the wrong direction on Kirkville Road and get to that light, you will see a church on your left and houses on the right. That's Fremont Road; turn around and come back the other way.
Card/card front donations -- Please bring any cards/fronts without glitter or lumpy embellishments for donation to From Our Hearts. Arlene will be collecting for them. Thank you.
Here's a general look at the day's events:
10-10:30 Check in, get your table assignment, leave any door prize donations with me. Drop off food. Pin one of your completed shoebox projects to the board, leave two other completed shoebox projects in the two containers near board, the last completed one goes with you to your table. Put one each of your swaps out and check your name off the list(s) as you do that. Place your wrapped gift swap on back table (participation optional) and be sure to get a playing card for that. Chat with friends. Head back to your table.
10:30 Intros with your table head; she'll also let you know what to expect in terms of making the projects. Expect to describe your project, especially anything that's not obvious. Remember that some basic written directions should also be there for those who will make your project later.
10:45-12:15 Morning shoebox projects.
If you're hungry at all (morning or afternoon), please feel free to take a break and graze any time.
Please neaten up your spot before you get started with lunch. We don't want any spills on the projects and we also need room to eat lunch. Thanks.
Projects stay behind and people will will switch tables after lunch. Please don't try switching before it's time although you certainly may move to have lunch with your friends.
12:15-1:30 Lunch, garage sale and swapping. Swapping will be in this order: NVR, ATC, Recipe, DQ, Tag, Bookmark.
1:30-3:15 Afternoon shoebox projects
3:15-5:00 Door prizes and gift swap. Gift swap will be last so that those not participating can depart early if desired.
5:00 Clean up. So helpful!
6:30 Williams for dinner. You are welcome to stop at my house for the break between.
When the event closes, this first page is where you will find all the updated info on the swaps, etc. Info will be updated as registrations arrive and the final details should be posted around 10/5.
Gift Swap -- Returning to wrap it up as nice as you please. "Snatching" encouraged as part of the fun.
Tables -- Tables are assigned randomly when you arrive. If you really, really (really) need to be with your friend (I'm saying this more for the newbies), we will try to accommodate you but the random assignments really do make for a good way to make new friends. Plus, you and your friend(s) will have different projects to share. Well, unless you're randomly assigned to the same table. Then, you're welcome to ask someone at another table to switch with you. You will be at one table in the morning and a different table (but with the same table mates) in the afternoon.

ONLY "Current Stampin' Up! products" allowed for this swap. Many of us use these as samples in our workshops.
Please double-check that your items (stamps, colors, embellishments) are all in the new catty!

It would be nice to include 2 extra swaps for Linda our Hostess & her Assistant.
For all that they do to help make this such a great day!
Since this is a new swap for us, I went and looked in the gallery and checked out a few forums Linda had sent me. I just typed bookmarks and it was unbelieveable how many ideas there are. So with this in mind I am not having a size restriction. I know some have a Kindle/Nook as I do too. I made a bookmark with the elastic and put it on my hard cover. I think it looks adorable too. Just an idea for the techy people.
Requirements are:
2 Layers of good quality cardstock
Stamped image
1 embellishment

Please make the fronts smaller -- either 4-1/8 x 5-3/8 OR 4 x 5-1/4. The smaller size will allow the fronts to be easily mounted to a full card if the recipient so desires.
Reminders about swap etiquette are listed in post #3.

OPTIONAL- make one for Linda and one for her helper in thanks for all of their work
The ATC Swap is the Artist Trading Card Swap - Finished ATC comes out to be 2.5" x 3.5" (baseball card size). You can use any paper, embellishments, ink, etc. you choose. Please use at least 2 layers of good quality card stock. This is a good chance to use all those little stamps that you never know what to do with.
See Linda's general rules of etiquette for swapping in post #3.
To cut an 8 1/2" x 11" paper into 10 ATC size pieces of paper do the following. Using your paper cutter, take the 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock and make a cut at 2 1/2" and 5" along the short side. You will have three strips of paper. On the first two that are 2 1/2" wide, make cuts at 3 1/2", 7", and 10 1/2". On the third strip which is 3 1/2" wide make cuts at 2 1/2", 5", 7 1/2" and 10".
Please PM me if you wish to be added to this swap.
Check back for final numbers (optional make 2 additional ATC's for our hostess Linda and her helper )
I am so "IN" -- I have to come up with my 'wish' list to complete my registration but I'll be joining the NVR cardfront swap and the Holiday Tags swap.

It's been on my calendar for months! I'm in for NVR card fronts and ATCs please! YEAH...personlized goodie bags...LOVE! We were just talking about them this weekend and how wonderful they are even though they are a lot of work for you, Linda!
For those of you who haven't been since I did this or who are new, what you want to do is send me a L-O-N-G list of your Stampin' Up! wishes. You are most likely to get the items you want if you give me some lower priced items to fill in. Things that can be split up (dimensionals, buttons, brads, card stock) are great when I need to even things out.
I suggest *NOT* putting anything on your list that costs more than $15-16 on its own.
I cannot give you a dollar value because a lot depends on how many ultimately register.
Here are some winning combinations from last time that may give you an idea of a list that work. These were the end results. Each person had several other items listed.
Scallop circle punch (clearance) & 1/8" taffeta ribbon
Clear mount stamp cases and a clear block
Game spinner hands, wire works metallics, log cabin smooch, fabric (all from clearance)
in color refills, DSP (clearance)
2 embossing folders
My pick for those who did not choose themselves: summer smooches DSP and a half-pack of brights CS
Do put your list in order of how much you want it, i.e., I will try to get your #1 or #2 item if at all possible.
I hope this helps make more sense of this and doesn't just muddy things up more for you.
If someone wants to help me say it more clearly, feel free to speak up. I do love that we can edit our posts in this forum.
Here's a great example of a list that should work well:
Chevron embossing folder #127749 $7.95 (p.188 )
Rich Razzleberry pad #126950 $5.95 (p. 153)
Early Espresso ink pad #126974 $5.95 (p.156)
Cherry Cobbler ink pad #126966 $5.95 (p.155)
Watercolor paper #122959 $4.95 (p.160)
Pool Party ink refill #122933 $2.95 (p.152)
Cherry Cobbler marker #119681 $3.50 (p.155)
Rich Razzleberry cardstock #115316 $6.95 (p.153)
Crumb Cake cardstock #120953 $6.95 (p.156)
Double Cog punch #118879 $10.79 → clearance rack online
Pink Pirouette Ribbon #111363 $2.95 → clearance rack online
Bakers Twine: #123124 Early Espresso, #123125 Cherry Cobbler $2.95 each
Yay! Just checked my schedule & I'm free!! We'll be seeing the rest of the group this afternoon & see if we can get a carload to sign up!!
Sorry Linda, looks like the Pa group is going to have to pass this time. We really appreciate the invite but most of the group have prior commitments. We will miss seeing everyone and getting to see all of the creativity but please, don't forget to keep us in mind. Thank you for including us. Have an awesome day of crafting & friendship.:(

Sloooow day at work so after I did some yucky vacuuming I started working on my wish list! Good thing I'm married to the owner or all this online time wouldn't be happening!
