I tend to be pretty El Cheapo anyway so I didn't want to be a first responder to this thread. lol
I would never, ever pay that much money for a stamp set ever. The set is not my style and although the sentiments are inspirational, I can't see how I would ever use them. And again...$60 seems like A TON of money for stamps. Although they are on a 8x11 sheet, there are still only a handful of stamps, IMO.
It will be interesting to see if people jump on this set regardless of price because of the designer.

frankly the stamp set is way too simple no matter who the designer is to be so pricey and even at that.......i cough and hack at paying over about 25 for a set of any kind....... something like this set? maybe 30 but that's pushing it........its not all that or i'm just uneducated about the whole thing?
$60??????? In today's economy?:shock::shock: The answer to your question, is YES! That price likely doesn't include shipping, so pop on another $5 - 10. Gulp...
No Way - No How would I pay $60 for that set. The designs are nice but do not warrant the price. The most I've ever paid for a sheet of stamps is $24 and it had about 15 stamps of good size and more intricate desings. Well, I wish them well but they won't gt my $.
I guess the market will answer that question. If it sells well, then Unity will know it was a good price. Unity has a lot of sales/markdowns, so maybe they set the price high expecting to discount it in the future???

IMO, that is ridiculous. I do not think ANY 8.5 X 11 unmounted stamp set should be more than $30.00 at the VERY most. Most go for about $24.00. That set is not unique enough, IMO, to warrant a $60.00 pricetag. No offense to Donna Downey, but botanical stamps and leaf stamps you can get anywhere, and many look alike. Don't get me wrong, it is a very pretty set. But I would not pay $60.00 for it. It would have to knock my socks off for $60.00, and again no offense, but it just doesn't.
Is Donna Downey someone I should've heard of?
Regardless, it'll probably be on Crafty Steals for a fraction of the price in a couple of months. $60 is way too much, that's for sure.
I also would never pay this for one stamp set, that is even taking into account that everything is much dearer in Europe to begin with. I do love the set and am a big fan of silhouette images but the sentiments are way too gushy so I would only get use from about half the set anyway. Still a beautiful set though and I have seen some lovely cards made with it.
I can't believe that set is $60. That's about 3 very nice sets from anywhere else! I don't even think the set is very special --- nothing about it grabs me. And I actually hope it doesn't sell well.........and drive up the price on other stamp sets.
Not only is it a ridiculous price, I wouldn't buy anything with DD's name on it. I do own some DD books but after a certain incident I'll never buy anything of hers again.
I really like the set and it's something I would use again and again, but too pricey even if I'd use it constantly - either the $50 or the $60.
Is it just me, or do the word/saying stamps look a lot like the stuff that Ali Edwards has out both on her digital downloads and her acrylic stamps through Technique Tuesdays? I like that style but I notice that I'm seeing it all over and it's hard to tell who's images/stamps are who's anymore.

She's a really big name in scrapbooking, has a very successful blog, consults for many magazines, designs for the big names in product lines and has kind of created a whole new style of scrapbooking with fabric.
She stamps a lot on her fabric creations, so I guess this was a long time coming..

Yep, there's that! And $60 for what looks to be 11 stamps . . . totally ridiculous no matter who's name is on it! I can just imagine the chatter this is getting over at two peas!!

Please watch for this set to show up in some of your local scrapbooks/stamp stores and favorite online sights very soon. It was released at $60 plus 30% off on the Unity website. It is now $60.00 without 30% off due to the sale ending on Sunday - HOWEVER, we have priced it on our website this way so that our stores that buy from us wholesale have the ability to mark this set for profit and at the same time be well under the Unity website price. I don't expect you to purchase this set for $60. There will be plenty of opportunities to purchase it for less if you would like.
Also: As a business owner I opted to come to SCS because of the integrity, kindness, and warmth of the people in this forum. It is my hope as this conversation unwinds regarding Donna Downey that judgement be passed only by those who never in their lives have made a decision that was wrong or a mistake of any kind.
I am fully aware of all conversations that have been going on regarding this situation from the very beginning right up until this moment at Two Peas. :(

All of Unity's Stamps are PRE-Cut and PRE-Mounted on Static Foam. You just pop them out and they are READY TO STAMP. You are not required to cut ANY of our stamps yourselves. All Unity comes this way.

Thanks for clarifying that, Angela.
I hadn't seen the word "perforated" on any of your stamp sets before, so that description was confusing.

This is correct!! As a Unity follower since the beginning, I can only tell you that their quality of unmounted red rubber stamps (and wood mounts for that matter) far surpasses alot of other companies I have experienced using. Their customer service and personal friendships created cannot be matched either. That's why I keep going back!!
Unity's stamps are also alot larger, so you can use them on BOTH cards, scrapbook pages, and even alterables. They want to make ALL papercrafters happy.
Also, Unity has numerous sales and specials throughout the year, and I dont forsee you ever paying $60.00 for a stamp set from them, like Angela stated. They also have fun games and chats on the forum, where you can WIN some of their sets too.
Check out their member forum for a fun time, and TONS of inspiration!!
UNITY ROCKS!!! :-)
I am another one who will not purchase ANY stamp set that is priced so outrageously. I tend to not want to spend even $25.00 like a previous poster said. There are just too many other sets out there to spend the money on where you can get more bang for your buck. Blessings.
I look at that set and think Photoshop! The word art is extremely easy and a few brushes. In fact there are probably already brushes out there that look like that. So no not worth $60 out of my pocket.

DRS Designs-Has anyone checked out their website? (drsdesign.com) I just bought six unmounted stamps for less than $23.00 and because I joined the club, I get an extra three for free. They have great variety, and I am becoming a cheapskate when it comes to buying things now-nothing full price any longer if I can help it! Check it out, but if you buy any, make sure you join the club first-(it's free)

Reason: It was unfinished
I personally love this set, and I would buy it at $60 for several reasons. I think that Unity stamps are top quality, their customer service is stellar, and they have "green" practices. I will say that even if their are similar stamps elsewhere to this, I don't "feel the love" from those other companies like I do with Unity. Just my two cents.

I am always looking for new artists. It would be lovely for anyone to submit if they are interested and have some unique ideas. Unity has amazing artists and each one is welcomed and loved by the people that use our stamps.

I think it's a pretty set that I would love to have - but couldn't afford at that price. Not with any kind of desire to ever retire anyways! lol...but that's where I'm at with Copic markers, too - so I'm not one to know
