I'm still having SO much fun with my Slice!! I cut out more than 100 letters for my Christmas cards this past weekend. I wish I had falala, but all I have is the card it came with.
Do you have the spatula to go with it? Somebody said the Quickutz tool thingy works better, but I didn't want to spend $7 without asking around first. Right now I'm using my CM placement tool thingy.
I LOVE my Slice, and am so glad I got it! Tell us about yours!
I'm still loving mine as well! I bought one more cartridge (Fall/Back to School), and have been cutting like crazy. My dh was impressed last night when I covered a notebook for him, then was able to easily cut out 2009 for him. I don't have the spatula, and am functioning fine without it. I, also, want Falala, but don't want to take a road trip to get it or pay full price.
I just got mine Saturday, and I'm having so much fun with it! I bought Noteworthy along with it, and the labels/tags on that card are gorgeous! I previously only had a Cuttlebug, so the fact that with the Slice I can choose the size of each shape and even make layers has opened up a whole new world to me!
I was bummed that my HL was out of FaLaLa, but I was able to win it on e-bay for $26 (after a surprise 10% paypal coupon) plus free shipping! Woo hoo! Now I'm waiting impatiently for it to arrive. Those Christmas shapes just look too darn cute!
I think I need to adjust the blade on mine a bit, but I just haven't had time to play. My cuts are good, but there is usually one edge that just doesn't cut all the way through. One little adjustment and that should do the trick. I love it though!
I have the spatula and have been iffy about it. I just think I need more practice.

I'm loving mine! I've used FaLaLa a TON -- LOVE the snowflakes. I don't have the spatula, I just use my craft knife to pick an edge up and the whole thing lifts very easily.
I bought mine on Saturday, and I also bought Noteworthy with it! When I purchased them at ACMoore, the register spit out a coupon for 50% off one item this coming Saturday. I'm going to buy Falala then...I also picked up the Design 3 yesterday at HL with my 40% off coupon. I think I'm a bit obsessed. I used the Noteworthy card to come up with a great shape for some of my Christmas cards!

Sorry ladies, mine has gone unattended. I love it, but just haven't been able to use it this past week. Then of Friday my DH and DD's surprised me with the Cricut Expression. I am not giving up my Slice though. I love the Falala cartridge.
I went to Hobby Lobby earlier and was surprised to see that they have the design cards and some of the accessories. Got Basic shapes 2 with a 40% off coupon.
But the ladybug only cuts three "spots" instead of the four that are pictured. I mean, not a partial cut or goof; just NO spot!
Has anyone else had that happen, or is it just my card?
Also noticed there are two flowers on #2 that look identical in the "catalog" of shapes. Tried them, and they are indeed identical. ???
But this is my first die-cut machine (I run my Cuttlebug embossing folders through my pasta machine), and I am really liking it a lot. Hoping for # 3 and FaLaLa for Christmas; I have plans for those flourishes and snowflakes!
Does anyone know if/when other design cards are coming out?? I bought the storage folder for the design cards and it has slots for 24 so hopefully they'll be coming out with more?? Has anybody seen what's coming down the line for new ones??
I don't have the Slice but I thought you might like to know I was in AC Moore yesterday and they have an entire display of everything with lots of cards.
I do not know if you can use a coupon there or if it is excluded like the Cricut.
So far it's going just fine - only a few limitations (smallest sizes on the Basics 1 cart which MM is aware of). I love Noteworthy and Fall/Back to School the best (so far), but I've cut some lovely snowflakes from the Falala cart. They turned out perfectly in the one and a half and two inch size. Cut them from printed Memory Box pp which is not thin, and then embossed them with Judikins White Diamond ep. I was waiting for the Spellbinders Snowflake Wonder die - and it's backordered, so am using the Slice cuts on a LO instead, and will pop them up for more dimension.

CHA in January. Have no idea what's coming. Personally, I'd like to see more words that can be cut like the 'love', 'giggle', etc.
I love the spatula, by the way. I also highly recommend the 12" glass cutting mat over the small one. The small one is great if you are taking your Slice somewhere but having a larger surface for your Slice and your paper is really awesome!

Gosh, you're the first person to recommend the spatula!! May have to go out and get that!! I am a "completist" that way
I've had my Slice for about a month and I love it. I use it all the time. It's so convenient. I'm afraid I'll run out of the adhesive, and I'm wondering if what would happen if I just adhered the corners of the paper with removable tape.
I ordered mine from Fran over at www.franticstamper.com. She had great service and had the slice before a lot of other vendors. I had to give her a cheer, because I just love her service.
I have the basic & noteworthy cards. They are both great. I wish I'd thought ahead and gotten a falala card.
I have the silhouette... does anyone have that and the slice... I don't use it as much because I have to hook my computer to it... I had the cricut before, but bought the silhouette because I wanted to use my own fonts... but I seem to use the same fonts all the time anyway.. I like the fonts that are on the cards..... help me decide.. should I ask Santa?

Do you have the spatula to go with it? QUOTE]
It took a few tries for me to figure out the spatula - it works best (for me) if I use the side of the spatula instead of the pointed front end (hope that makes sense). Now that I've gotten the hang of it, I love it. Much better than jabbing at the paper with my fingernail, wich is what I'd been doing!
I got my spatula as part of the Slice "Tool Kit." I used my coupon at Hobby Lobby, and after the discount it came out to be about $18 + tax. The kit has the spatula, a "scraper" that is great for smoothing your paper down on the glass mat, a paper piercer, x-acto knife, refill blades set, metal tweezers, detail scissors, 6" metal ruler, and a bone folder, all in a zippered pouch. I know you couldn't buy all those things separately for less than $18!
There is a Hobby Lobby in Danville, Virginia. They had the Slice. I just got the Cricut Create on Black Friday. I am trying to find Cricut cartridges that have some of the same die cuts as the Slice Falala cartridges. Does anyone have a lot of the Cricut cartridges that could compare them. I can't justify getting another cutting system right now. I also have the Big Shot as well with lots of dies. Thanks....
Thanks, Wanda, for letting me know about the Hobby Lobby in Danville. I don't have any of the Cricut items; sorry. We have Michael's here but they always exclude the Cricut on their coupons.
Today I discovered that the blade unit is no longer descending. You know how when you press the green button on the side to start the cut, there's a "click" and you can see the round white thing that holds the blade pop down to the paper? Well, I had just cut out a design and wanted to cut a duplicate, and first the blade unit sort of popped down but it looked like it went back up again as soon as the mechanics started moving around. Sure enough, when I checked the paper, it hadn't even made a scratch. So I tried it again, only this time there wasn't even a "click" - the blade didn't even start to come down. I've homed the blade, restarted the unit, tried cutting different shapes, turned the blade with the wrench, nothing. It's fully charged (plugged in all night), and was plugged in when I was using it. I've only had the thing just over a week, and I've really barely used the thing - this should not have happened this quickly. I've submitted the problem to the Slice website, so we'll see what they say! Needless to say, I'm really bummed - I was planning on taking this to my mom's when we visit her next week for Christmas - I've been talking it up to her since I got it!

That stinks!! Let us know how they are with resolving problems! However, if you can, I would call their 800 number. During the week, during the day, someone does answer!!

I just wanted to let everyone know... I just purchased my Slice today at Hobby Lobby with my 40% coupon.. had to argue with the manager a bit as he said I couldn't use the coupon on die cutting machines. I pointed out it is not a cricut and it doesn't say anything about it on the coupon. I would say if you want to use a coupon on it, do it quick because he thought soon it will be listed on the coupon as well... I got mine though! It is charging as i type!
[QUOTE=lnl96;12325840]Today I discovered that the blade unit is no longer descending.
Oh Dear!!! I hope your problem has been fixed. That was my biggest fear with buying an electric cutter. something like that goes wrong with it and there would be no way I could fix it. So far i've had mine about 3 weeks and I've used it about 5 times and no problems so far.
I'll be waiting to see if your problem was easily fixed by MM or not.
Today I had some problems, but discovered it just needed to be plugged in. It really shouldn't have needed to be plugged in, because I had accidentally left it charging for way too long, but all of the problems disappeared after I plugged it in. My husband is always super careful with products that can be charged, and makes sure they don't charge too long. I hope I didn't just ruin the charger, but I was really glad that it worked fine after I plugged it in.
I think I've got mine working again. I fooled around some more with the blade, and this time after I used the little wrench to tighten the part that holds the blade it started working (I had tried the same thing before, but for some reason this time was the charm). It seems to be working okay now, except that on a couple of images it cut fine once and then started missing some of the center detail when I tried to cut a duplicate. Not sure what's up with that.
Still haven't heard back from MM, although I'm sure they're pretty busy right now. I've got my fingers crossed that I won't have any more issues - we're going to visit my family next week, and my mom and I are planning some major craft time with this thing.
Well, I got my Slice two days ago and nothing is cutting right with it. All of the circles and scallops are lopsided and more like ovals. At first I thought that maybe I hadn't charged it enough so I let it charge overnight, but there still was no change, even when I plugged it in. I changed the tension on the blade then changed the blade altogether and still no improvement. I'm so frustrated with it. I guess I'll have to call Making Memories tomorrow. I hope it's just a lemon and they can either tell me how to fix it or get me another one. I waited almost six weeks for it to be shipped from Joann.com and can't exchange it (they make you reorder it and they don't have it in stock...plus I refuse to wait another 6 weeks for a new one).
Has this happened to anyone? Any quick and easy fixes?
I'm loving my Slice more the more I use it! I used it yesterday to make Christmas cards and just love how they turned out. I really hope MM gets the issues that some are experiencing resolved so everyone can have fun and enjoy their Slice.
Sue, that's exactly what mine was doing yesterday!! I'm definitely calling MM tomorrow. I'm glad I finally got mine working right, but it only worked right when it was plugged in. Like the problems InI96 was having. They just stopped. She did the same things, and it started working. I'm not entirely convinced that we are doing anything different, and that the machine didn't just start working regardless of what we did.
Good luck to all of you having glitches. I hope MM can fix them, because I do love this little machine!
I just tried mine out Friday-cut bout 10 items- then stopped- may have needed recharging. Worked at first last nite-THEN it wouldn't cut- THe blade was going down- but no pressure... It is going back.....I have Cricut and made me a appreciate it more... Seems like there are bugs that really need to be worked out! I di change blades and tried-tightening and loosening- but same results-not even a scratch on the paper..gggrrrrr! Keeping fingers crossed they take it back at HL- only had 2 weeks used 2 times!
Mine is still working perfectly! I haven't used mine in a week and got a little nervous reading all of these problems so I decided to check it and make sure. Happy to say that it works just as good as it did the first day I got it I don't know if this helps much but mine is always plugged in and ready to go. I don't use it plugged in but I know that when I need it is fully charged. Sorry others are having problems.
I've had mine a couple of weeks now and love it. I use it a lot more than I ever used my Cricut, which is for sale. I do have one question, does it hurt to leave it plugged in all the time? I saw a couple of tutorials and they used it unplugged in one and plugged in in the other. Is it possible to over charge it?
Yes, you can overcharge it. You'll have to ask Making Memories to get more specifics. My husband says some manufacturers put in a charge protection of sorts to stop things from overcharging, but not all. He said that most things still work when plugged in, but it ruins the battery so it can't be used cordless unless the battery is replaced.
Hmmm. I wonder if Joann.com got a bad batch since we both got ours there. I really want to keep it because the only other machine I have is a Cuttlebug. I hope MM will take care of it. I always seem to get the lemons...first the Big Bite, then my ATG gun and now this. I guess I don't have much luck!
