Dawn Phillips - Pink Piggy
Chester, UK
I’m Dawn Phillips otherwise known as Dawny P or Pink Piggy!!. I’ve been a crafter for as long as I can remember and have always enjoyed making things to give to others. It’s such a lovely and absorbing hobby and very addictive. I did pottery for many years and had my own workshop but due to a house move, I had to sell my kiln. While I was waiting to buy a smaller one, I was looking for something to do to fill the void and somebody asked me to make their wedding invitations. So I did and that was it - I was hooked. I think my favourite technique is probably stamping because I love to colour and really enjoy bringing images to life. I also love pretty papers and making 3D projects.

I live in Chester in the UK and have 2 grown up girls and 2 granddaughters who are the light of my life. I cannot imagine life without them now that they are here. I have a fantastic partner who (mostly!!) supports my crafting and puts up with late dinners etc when I am super busy.

For the last 5 years I’ve done quite a bit of magazine work and I still love seeing my work in print – it’s such a thrill, it really is. And for the last year I have appeared on Create & Craft TV as a guest presenter for the fabulous Lili of The Valley. I didn’t for one moment image that my crafty journey would bring me this but it has and I still pinch myself some days. I do also have a full time job and I work in the financial sector. I also run a card group near to where I live and we are almost 6 years old. If that wasn’t enough to be getting on with, we also breed birds of prey.

I was extremely excited when Lydia asked me to join the DD – it is an honour and a privilege and I am looking forward to sharing my work with you.
