Supplies

  • Acetate Box (Stampin’ Up!® Acetate Card Box (11.3 x 14.8 x 1.6 cm or approx. 6" x 4 1/2" x 1/2" box used here – measurements can be adjusted to other sizes)
  • Cardstock
  • Circle dies or punches
  • Other dies as needed to embellish (SU Gathered Leaves dies used here)
  • Embossing folder (optional –SU Pinewood Planks folder used here)
  • Black marker
  • Scissors
  • Adhesive
  • Other supplies as needed to complete the project (Ribbon, Mini Glue Dots, Bone Folder, Dimensionals / Foam)

Step-by-Step

  1. Step 1

Find and mark the center of a clear box.

  2. Cut the box in half to make 2 projects! Measurements are based on a 6" x 4 1/2" x 1/2" clear box – adjust as needed.

  3. Step 2

    Cut a piece of cardstock to 4 1/4" X 6 1/2". Score at 3" and 3 1/2" on the long side.

  4. NOTE:
For other size boxes, this piece will be the width of the box. The length will be twice the height of the box plus the bottom. Score evenly from each end using the height measurement.

  5. Step 3 (Optional)

Emboss the cardstock to add texture.

  6. Step 4

Cut embellishments for the face. The pieces for the eyes are as follows: Outside eyeball = 1 1/2” circle, whites of eyes = 1 1/4” circle, and the pupil = 1/2” circle.

  7. Assemble eyeballs as shown.

  8. Step 5

Adhere eyeballs to the front of the box using double-sided adhesive, popping one up with foam tape.

  9. Step 6

Draw a quirky smile with a black marker.

  10. Step 7

Use a little adhesive to keep the insert in place, and tuck it into the box.

  11. Step 8

Embellish as desired, and put a treat inside.

  12. Step 9

    Complete the project.
