Faux Letterpress with M-Bossabilities™

by Beate Johns

Ink your M-Bossabilities folder before embossing your cardstock for rich, letterpress look.

  • Grand Calibur™, or other die cutting machine

  • Adapter plate

  • M-Bossabilities™ or other embossing folder (Elegance M-Bossabilities™ used here)

  • Neutral cardstock

  • Ink pad (Cantaloupe Memento™ used here)

  1. Step 1

Apply ink directly to the inside of your M-Bossabilities folder.

  2. Step 2

Place cardstock over the inked part of your folder.

  3. Step 3

Close the folder and place it on top of the base plate.

  4. Place the Adapter plate over the the embossing folder.

  5. Step 4

Run sandwich through the Grand Calibur.

  6. Step 5

Take cardstock out of the folder.

  7. Step 6

    Finish your project.

  1. Use Markers instead
Color your design with markers instead of an ink pad for multicolored look.

If you are using watercolor markers, mist the folder lightly with water before embossing.
If you are using alcohol markers, mist the folder with alcohol or blending solution before embossing.

Wow, I like this technique and will definitely be giving it a try. Thinking of using pigment inks and adding clear embossing poiwder to see how that will look. Gosh, who needs colored paper anymore? LOL!
