Decorative Edge Circles

by Julie Warner

Decorative-edged circles are easy with Nestabilities™ and text-weight paper.

Supplies

  • Text Weight Paper (20# works best)
  • Craft Knife
  • Cutting Mat
  • Old CD
  • Die Cutting Machine
  • Decorative Shape Dies (here, Spellbinders Labels 4)

Step-by-Step

  1. Step 1

    Place paper on cutting mat.

  2. Use the CD as a template to cut your circle. The edges do not need to be perfect.

  3. Step 2

Fold circle in half, then fold in quarters.

  4. Fold in eighths, using a bone folder if necessary.

  5. Step 3

Place the edge of die on top of the folded paper.

  6. Carefully run through die cutting machine.

Tip: I use an original Sizzix, and I had to make 3 passes on the 20# folded paper. I tried 22# paper and it was very difficult to get through the last couple of layers.

  7. Step 4

    Unfold your decorative edge circle.

  8. I ran mine through on the embossing mat to flatten out the fold lines.

Tip: You can lightly mist your paper first to help flatten the lines.

  9. Step 5

    Finish your project as desired.
