Clear Envelope Brag Book

by Corinne Somerville

Make your own photo brag book with clear envelopes.

  • 4 3/4" x 9 1/4" piece of cardstock for back and spine of book

  • 4 3/4" x 6 1/4" piece of cardstock for front of book

  • Additonal cardstock and patterned paper to decorate

  • Paper cutter with scoring tool

  • 1/16" handheld circle punch

  • Clear Envelopes

  • Brads

  • Sticky Strip™

  1. Step 1

    Score your 4 3/4" x 9 1/4" piece of cardstock at 1" and 2" on the 9 1/4" side.

  2. Step 2

Fold your cardstock over at the 2" score mark. This will form the spine of your book.

  3. Step 3

Apply Sticky Strip™ to the end of the front panel.

  4. Step 4

Adhere the 6 1/4" x 4 3/4" piece of cardstock (your front cover) to the exposed Sticky Strip™.

  5. Step 5

Peel the plastic lining of your clear envelope seal, line the envelope up with the back of your book and tape down. Layer all envelopes on top of each other.

Five envelopes were used here. The envelopes will serve as page protectors for your photos.

  6. Step 6

Use your hole punch to make holes for your brads. You can use your thumb as a ruler on both ends.

The punch will go through both all the cardstock and envelopes with no problem

  7. Step 7

    Attach your brads.

Eyelets and ribbon can be used here instead of brads.

  8. Step 8

Decorate brag book to whatever theme that will hold your photos.

What a wonderful idea. I have ladies that come to my card workshops but aren't into scrapbooking. What a great way to have them start showing off their pictures.
thanks for the great tutorial!

This is a great project for anti-scrapbookers...they don't feel overwhelmed by a big scrapbook to fill. The nice thing they don't even have to scrapbook the pages that go in the book...if they trim they're 4" x 6" pictures to 4" x 5 1/2" they'll slip perfectly in the clear envelopes smile

What a wonderful way to use these Clear Envelopes. Love the idea. It's cute and simple.

Even I think I could make one of these albums.
I'm not a scrapper either. But I know I could fill it with something....from one of our trips.

Thanks for sharing your creative ideas

Great tutorial, Corrine! As usual, your work is inspirational and now I have to go to make one of these books!

You could also make this a card keeper, since cards fit in the envies. I am definitely going to do these, right after I get some of those envies!

What a great project! Just a couple of questions. Are the envies placed face down? When you say tape the envie down, you mean you are just using the sticky part of the closure to adhere it to the back of the album and then each additional envie?

Yuppers..the envelopes are placed face down (the sticky part down that is smile. You just layer each envelope on top of each other sticking them together by first removing the plastic strip that peels away from the envelope. Does that make sense or have I just confused you smile

This is so cute, but just wondering if the clear envelopes are acid-free, since you'll be putting pictures in them?
Gwen K  |  Thu Feb 7, 2008 at 7:46 PM
Ok I normally lurk in the back ground and just LOVE what every one else does, but as a scrapbooker I HAVE to make this lovely book. What a GREAT JOB. Now just tell me where to find a stamping up dealer in my area.

OK- sorry to seem so uninformed-but where do you get the clear envelopes-SU doesn't sell them!

OK-I really am uninformed when I don't read through all of the info- I found the info about the envelopes! So ignore the above message!
