  1. From Studio Calico to You!

    By Amanda Havon

Have you ever wanted to try a company's all-in-one scrap kit? I have, and I am pleased to say, look no more. Studio Calico offers unique kit that is real value for the money!

I was so excited when I heard we were going to review this product, I tracked the shipment daily! When it arrived at my door, Studio Calico didn't disappoint. I love everything, and I thought the Studio Calico kit was very generous! I was able to make four colorful cards with enough product left to create another 4 to 8 cards!

The colors in the paper pack were really cheery and plentiful, the ink mist is perfect and sprays in a nice fine mist, not splotchy like many do, and the embellishments are more then enough. Also, I found the embellishments to be geared toward a general crafting style, so you won't be stuck with random obscure things that you won't use when you've created with most of your kit.

This is a very nice kit for those of use just starting out and for those of us who want to shake up our card creating with new items or styles. My cards tend to be girly and fussy, but this kit really helped me explore my creativity. I went back to the basics and enjoyed trying a different approach to making my cards. Studio Calico is a new company to me, but I want to buy more kits from them. They are amazing!

  2. Just add Ink!

    By Beate Johns

I love card kits. They make it easy to create cards because everything included is coordinated to work together. So I was excited to hear that we were reviewing the Studio Calico March Card kit.

The kit includes a Mr. Huey's Mist, a fun mask to go with that, patterned paper, cardstock, a sheet of alphabet stickers, a sweet stamp set and string and Enamel dots. All you need to add is adhesive and ink and are ready to create cards. The colors of the paper, cardstock and embellishments go great together!

The kit is great for beginners, as well as seasoned stampers. A lot of random supplies can be overwhelming when you start creating. Seasoned stampers will love the mask and spray to play with. And, we can always use more patterned paper and stamps, right?

The contents of this kit were fun and well-thought out. The patterned paper pack has a nice variety of papers, from romantic to geometric. The cardstock has a bit of a variety in strength, the green colored one being the sturdiest, the kraft colored the lightest. Each of them work though as a card base as well as for layers. The enamel dots (Theresa Collins) stick very well. Make sure you know where you want to place them before you adhere them down. The alphabet stickers are a pretty kraft color with a nice variety of letters from BasicGrey designed exclusively for Studio Calico.

Some people will want more items so that they can keep creating, and Studio Calico offers add-ons with other fun items to compliment the kit contents.

Card kits take the guess work out of card making and let you get busy crafting.

  3. All Out Studio Calico Card Kit

    By Teresa Kline

The Studio Calico Card kit makes it fun and easy to create quick all-purpose cards. The multitude of interpretations for using the kit are endless. I could not wait to get started, I immediately thought of sweet 3x3 note card minis. I knew I wanted the minis to sport a sweet chunky flower, super simple! Getting back to basics and using only a circle punch and glue was all it took. With only a few other essentials, my cards came together very quickly.

The fun paper pack was perfect for making an array of different styled cards. I was able to make a girly mini set and more urban styled cards. The versatility of the components in the kit make it a fun, useful idea. I also think the kit would be perfect for when I am on the road traveling. A little something to stay busy during the down time.

My summary of the Studio Calico Card Kit, a limitless measure of creativity and delight!

  4. The Whole Kit & Kaboodle

    By Judy Rozema

Back in the day, I was never a fan of kits. I always felt like the quality of product in the kits being offered was below what I could buy individually, and I wasn’t overly impressed with the various elements that came with the kits. There were too many things I would never use.

That seems to have changed in the past year, and quality companies have started offering quality materials in their kits. With the Studio Calico card kit, I found I had everything I needed to make some really nice cards.

The materials I received from Studio Calico are all of such high quality. I was excited to see a Mr. Huey’s Mini Mist, as I have been wanting to try those out! From the paper pad to the enamel dots, to the Huey’s Mask and stamps plus more, the materials are nice and things I would actually use.

I will probably still tend to purchase things separately, rather than in a kit, but the products in the Studio Calico March card kit were great to work with!

  5. Kit-a-licious!

    By Bev Rousch

I hadn't gotten to try any kits from Studio Calico before, so this review was a treat for me!

Right off the bat I opened the special box and it felt like a present. I like that it was all in a tidy bag and I could't loose anything. They chose nice pieces that are easy to combine within the kit to get your crafty heart going. I enjoyed their including of a mask and spray - a technique to inspire fun. The stamps are of great quality, and their embellishments are on trend.

What I liked the most about this Studio Calico kit was that the overall sense of their products is very mod plus user-friendly. Everything felt really well thought out, and that made creating cards from this kit easy.

Questions and Comments

What do you think? Leave your comments and questions.

Do you get instructions with the Studio Calico Card kits? Are they full color instructions?  Or is it just a set of supplies, and you need to think up your own projects, whether it be card making or scrapping?  It looks wonderful, but I prefer to have a kit that has full color step by step instructions, as I feel I can shop myself and buy coordinating supplies.  The hard part is coming up with the projects to make with the supplies.  Just my thoughts.  Thanks much for your reviews.

Stacy - Great question. My experience is that Studio Calico is dedicated to helping with tons of product inspiration through samples from their team in their gallery each and every month. I know a lot of their team shares here at Splitcoast, as well. Here’s the link to the project gallery with this month’s Neverland Kit:

SC offers galleries by kit type and name, as well, so you’re never lost of ideas.

Thank you, Lori, for your reply, and suggestion.  I will check out that link right now. And I think that is a wonderful way to get project ideas, and would definitely suffice. It would be “real” projects made by folks who received their kits just like me, not professional designers who are putting the kit together, so this way would be a real plus! Thanks again, Stacy

I would love to know how much this card kit costs but cannot locate a price on their website. Does SCS know?
