    1. Rich Antiquing Colors

      By Janelle Stollfus

What is there to know about these ink pads? These antiquing dye-based ink pads in complimentary rich jewel tones perform well on as many substrates as we papercrafters have come to expect from our inks. I tested on glossy, matte and vellum paper using clear and rubber stamps with good results on all of them as well as monoprint paper. The sturdy case and raised ink pad made it easy and comfortable to hold while inking stamps.

The naming of these inks include the word, ‘antiquing’ so I involuntarily grabbed my sponge and started distressing. I wasn’t disappointed in how they blended into the paper and how they blended well side-by-side. I played with sprays of water and isopropyl alcohol over them which made for fun artsy textures, but what impressed me most was that when I stamped delicate sentiments they came out clean and crisp.

These inks were a pleasure to use, and I’ll have them handy for future projects.

    2. Worked Well in All Applications

      By Robin Clendenning

For the last several weeks I have been working with Graphic 45 Inkpads from Clearsnap. I found the inks easy to use with my rubber stamps for stamping images, and I was even able to use my Copic markers with them (as long as they were totally dry). I also used the ink pads directly to paper (as in the crumpled paper technique) and used a sponge applicator with them for a softer look when stenciling. I am happy to report, they worked well in all applications.

I found that the colors of these inks matched very well to certain lines of paper by Graphic 45, and I really appreciate the tight fitting lids (even though they are a bit harder to open).

In future, I would like to see more colors to compliment the brighter Graphic 45 lines with less muted colors (Halloween for example). I would definitely buy more colors to match my paper.

    3. Beautiful Collaboration

      By Dina Kowal

It was a pleasure to receive the Graphic 45 Decades inkpads to review. These classic dye inks coordinate with Graphic 45's beautifully designed paper collections. The inks are non-toxic and acid free, and add a nice vintage touch to the sponged edge of a cardstock panel or scrapbook page. The shades in this set of 6 full-sized pads are ones I would naturally gravitate towards, and I was pleased with the color palette. The Bon Voyage Blue is a unique shade of deep green-blue that I didn't have in my collection.

Beyond stamping outline images, these water-based inks are quite blendable. I put them to the test by pressing them onto an acrylic block to create a small palette for watercoloring, and loved the results I got. The ink can be swiped and misted on a craft sheet for various background techniques. A wet brush rolled through the ink can add nice splatters to a watercolored piece as well.

Clearsnap's product line is trusted, and the Decades line is a beautiful collaboration.

    4. Beautiful Vintage Look

      By Sandee Shanabrough

As a paper crafter who leans toward shabby chic creations, these inks were perfect.

I have always trusted the Clearsnap name and already had quite a few of their products in my collection, so I was excited to try out these inks! I certainly was not disappointed! They dried fast and didn’t smear. They stamped without blotching up the image. They added a beautiful vintage look to each creation. They worked wonderfully with Copic Markers. Can’t get much better than that.

I always use a black or a brown ink to stamp an image before coloring...always. However, I was inspired to try stamping an image with a colored ink before using my Copics. I used Bon Voyage Blue for my line image, colored with Copic, and I love how it turned out! Another favorite thing to do with these inks was to sponge it along the edges of the layers of my cards for that vintage look I enjoy.

I will definitely recommend Clearsnap Graphic 45 Decades inks to anyone wanting to add a vintage look to their cards, as well as Copic Markers lovers.

    Questions and Comments

What do you think? Leave your comments and questions.

Do they make ink refills for these stamps?  Companies are always coming out with new colors and retire the old ones and I would like to know if those that I fall in love with I can continue to use after they are gone.

    Thanks,

Hi Rhonda - Thank you! I checked with Clearsnap, and refills are not currently available for these specific colors. I’m hopeful that the refills will be available in the future because I personally loved the color combos.  No guarantees right now. Hope that helps you!
