Our Artist in Residence answers your questions
Q: Judy asked: "I want to stamp an image on tiles and color it in with Copic markers. I have found that Staz-On smears with Copics. Is there another type of black ink pad that will stamp on tiles and not smear with Copics?"
A: Normally StazOn does not work with alcohol based markers, especially when used on paper, because both products are solvent based. Some crafters, however, have had success using StazOn on tumbled tiles with a heat set to the stamped image and a careful hand, paying attention not to let the tips of the marker touch the ink of the stamped image. Another suggestion would be Brilliance. Brilliance is a pigment ink that works on many surfaces with a heat set. It should not smear with your Copic Markers. Tumbled tiles are porous and the ink does settle into the stone, so with a good heat set you have several options for stamping and coloring.
Feedback From Past Tutorials
Jojo has a suggestion for the top hat tutorial: "I loved this so much that I had to make the top hat. Sadly I did not have grunge paper, so I tried with cardstock. I brushed the back of the cardstock with Mod Podge® then let it dry. I then followed the tutorial directions. I just had to adjust a little but it worked out lovely. Thank you so much for sharing this with the world. I for one appreciate your kindness."
