Distress Marker Painting
New guest tutorial author and dirty dozen alumna Jen Shults shows you how to watercolor with Distress Markers.
Supplies you'll need for this project
  • Watercolor paper
  • Embossing powder
  • Heat gun
  • Distress marker
  • Water brush
  • Embossalicious Embossing Folder
Emboss it your way with crisp designs in 6x6 or 8x8 formats using Embossalicious Folders from Crafter's Companion.
Our Artist in Residence answers your questions
Q: Terri asked: "How do you determine the grain of a sheet of paper?"
A: There are two ways to find the grain:

    1) Wet one side of a full sheet of cardstock with a cloth. The paper will curl in the direction of the grain. So if you fold it the way the paper is curving, that is with the grain.

    2) Hold a full sheet of cardstock in your hands - gently bend it horizontally then vertically - it will be MUCH easier one direction - that is the way you'd be folding it with the grain. Cut your cardstock accordingly.
    Feedback From Past Tutorials
Deebi27 has a suggestion for the pearlized button tutorial: "I like several others have some chip board laying around, hmmm! I am thinking a little bit bigger, painted pink, embossed, an awareness ribbon instead of the skewer, and ribbon in place of chain. And a pin back and you have a fundraiser for breast cancer! Awesome! Thank you!!!!!"
