Q: Monica asked: "What is really the best way to store ink pads? Is it really upside down, so the ink flows to the surface, or does it depend on the type of ink. Also, markers, alcohol or water based....should they be laying horizontal, rather than upright in a container? Thank you!!"
A: Here is what I know. When I was a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, the company said that it would be better to store their pads upside down. That is why they developed that ink pad holder that flips it automatically.
When I went to Ranger University, Tim Holtz stated that the Ranger inks and distress inks do NOT have to be stored upside down. None of the other companies (ColorBox, Tsukineko etc) created their pads for upside down storage. I store all my ink pads the with the ink pad facing up.
Regarding alcohol based markers. I have Copic Markers and have been to several certifications. We were told that you can store your Copic Markers horizontally or vertically. It doesn't matter. The only Copic product that you should store horizontally are the Spica glitter pens, because of the glitter particles in the pen.
