Our Artist in Residence answers your questions
Q: Leslie asks: "I just took a canvas watercoloring class today at my local scrapbook store. Should I seal the canvas?"
A: I would seal it, especially since watercolor media is likely to be affected by moisture. I use a spray sealant on my canvases - Krylon makes a few different varieties (I have a triple thick glaze and a matte one). If you're worried about your artwork running, make your first coat or two of the sealant very light and up from a distance of 12-18 inches.
    Feedback From Past Tutorials
Di has a tip for flattening watercolor paper in response to a recent Ask the Artist question: "To flatten warped watercolor paper so it stays stuck to your card fronts, you can run it slowly through a die cutting machine with just the regular plates. I find that does the trick pretty well."
