Our Artist in Residence answers your questions
Q: Anita says: “I would like to know how to make a gatefold card that is bigger in size.”
A: To determine where the score lines should go, divide the length of the long side of your cardstock by 4. Score that many inches from both ends, and fold the ends in to meet in the center. For example, a 5" square card base would measure 5" x 10". 10 ÷ 4 = 2.5, so score 2.5" from each side. For more gate fold instructions and measurements for standard cards, click here.

Feedback From Past Tutorials
Carol Ann offers this suggestion for the Sewing on Cards tutorial: "May I recommend a cleaner finish to your sewing on paper? Instead of snipping on the front, leave longer leftover top and bobbin threads. Remove paper [from the machine] and turn over to the back. Tug on the bobbin thread to bring the loop through to the back and draw the front end onto the back. A clean front is achieved and a little piece of tape secures the threads to the back paper."
