Our Artist in Residence answers your questions
Q: Rebecca asks: "Is there a certain embossing powder that works best on watercolor paper?"
A: I think paper and ink types are more important factors to consider if you want to emboss on watercolor paper. A hot press paper will give the best results, with its smooth surface. Mixed media paper or bristol paper are also good alternatives as smooth surfaces that will accept water media after you're done embossing. Try using an embossing ink or pigment ink that dries slowly, and use a stamp positioner for multiple impressions and excellent coverage. A detail powder will pick up more fine lines in your stamped image.

Feedback From Past Tutorials
Joni has a tip for the Copic Ink Background tutorial: "I've used something similar to this technique, using rubbing alcohol and dye reinkers. Using glossy paper, you get much the same effect as using alcohol based inks. Great idea with the gel - can't wait to play with it, and some "found" objects! Thanks for the idea!"
