Our Artist in Residence answers your questions
Q: Jude asked:"I see many gorgeous cards using Spellbinders Nestabilities. People are putting a lovely soft background behind their stamped image, then cutting it with the Spellbinder and leaving the white edge. I left the Spellbinder on my image and used chalk but did not get quite the same effect. Any idea what they are using?"
A: When I use Spellbinders dies, I stamp my image, then cut and emboss with a Spellbinders die. Next I color the image. If I want to add coloring to the background, I place the die I used to cut the image back over the cardstock. I sponge the background with dye ink. I used to use regular sponges for this as you can see in our Sponging Tutorial. Now I prefer to work with Ranger Ink's blending tool and a craft mat underneath as you can see in the Ghosting Tutorial.

Feedback From Past Tutorials
Pamela has a suggestion for the Mini blind tutorial: "Changed it up a bit to double-open the card for a sentiment. Opened inside and placed a 4" X 5 1/4" piece of light cardstock, scored in middle and lined up with center of outside; taping both sides to each side of center line. Then I taped the front piece of light cardstock to the front of card (after completing window, blind, etc.,) instead of the entire front piece to the back piece of cardstock. This allowed me to open the card and stamp/write a sentiment; while all the taping is hidden. Worked extremely well."
