Our Artist in Residence answers your questions
Q: Kay asked: "I purchased the Ranger Distress Kit and haven't a clue what to do with it. I saw a diecut that someone had shaded with distress ink and I'd like to know how to do it but haven't a clue. She said she used the Tim Holz blender & distress ink.

My kit doesn't even identify what is what, just says there's 27 things. Help!"
A: I am not sure what is in the distress kit. I tried to find it on the Ranger website and couldn't.

Blending ink with the Blending Tool is easy. I use it for all my blending/sponging. Check this tutorial. While it's not a tutorial just on sponging, it shows the blending tool and how to blend with it. Our sponging tutorial is older and showcases actual sponges. For more tutorials showcasing the Blending Tool, go to the tutorial page and type in Blending Tool into the search engine there.

There is probably a sanding block or tool in there. You can use it to sand patterned paper, Core'Dinations cardstock or for certain techniques, like Acrylic Distress.

You might also have a cardstock edge distressing tool. Check here on how to distress cardstock edges.
    Feedback From Past Tutorials
Roberta has a suggestion for the Tile Coaster tutorial: "I have done the coasters with Stazon and permanent markers. A couple of months ago my friend lost her beloved pet. I had a photo of him, printed on paper, let dry really well, used Modge Podge and the photo on one of the tiles. I then coat it with acrylic spray. She loved it. I was afraid the ink would run but it did not."

We also have a Photo tile tutorial in our resource section. Check it out here.
