Our Artist in Residence answers your questions
Q: Ajax asked: "I have a problem. I bought the Sizzix® die "Snowman and Tree A2". It is a beautiful scene. However, I cannot figure out how to get the colors in the scene. I tried white paper, I tried blue paper, I tried cutting and pasting, I tried chalks, coloring, everything. What would you do with this scene to make it work?"
A: That's a tough one. I hardly ever use embossing folders with motifs. Did you try embossing it on vellum? Maybe that would give it a cool look.

You could also make it a monochromatic panel with the Embossed Embossing Technique.

Or emboss on white cardstock, use light blue acrylic paint to go over it and then sand it off like shown here. Or try Wax paper Cuttlebug Resist. There is another technique you could try. Before embossing white cardstock with the folder brayer ink on the inside of the folder. That should will ink the pieces that are not embossed with that ink color.

You could also try last week's tutorial called Crayon Rubbed Embossing. I hope one of those techniques will help you create a great scene with your embossing folder.
Feedback From Past Tutorials
Joan has a suggestion for the felted cardstock technique: "Instead of using an iron, couldn't you run this sandwich through a laminating machine without the laminating plastic. Just take the sandwich you created and let the heat of the laminator press and melt things together. Try the lower setting for 3 ml plastic not the 6ml as I think this would not be as hot."
