a) immediately wanted to take part in it 'cos I love polka dots
and
b) immediately thought of those Doodlebug polka dots flowers I bought a while ago and had only used once so far.
I then picked an old sketch challenge (SC136) as a starting point for my card. The card is a trifold and the orange panel opens up. I wanted to do something simple and streamlined and the hardest part was actually figuring out how I'd use the ribbon to keep it close and where it'd have to go before I glued what where. The rest was pretty straightforward.
The colors come directly from Mary Jo Albright's blog - she had used those three colors together and I loved the look.
The sentiment is actually two stamps combined: the "happy" from Polka Dots and Paisley (from which I also used the polka dots stamp, obviously) and the "birthday" came from Des mots chaleureux. I love all those fancy font sentiment that are emerging everywhere (Papertrey, A Muse, etc.) but they're all in ENGLISH! I therefore try to create my own whichever way I can with what's available. This was an attempt to do so here.
As for the polka dots themselves, I wheeled See You Around on the pumpkin cardstock, stamped the Polka Dots and Paisley dots on the teal cardstock, and Itty Bitty Backgrounds on the circles. The flower was already dotted, and I pulled out my fave ribbon ever, some polka dot organdy.
To finish it off, a border was pierced on the left side and doodled with a copper gel pen on the right side. The center of the flower is a rust jumbo eyelet with a chocolate brad in the middle.
