IC79 Silverware
Inspiration Challenge based on a poster depicting silverware in front of a dinner plate. The poster was available in gold or blue.
When I studied the inspiration piece, I noticed the 3 pieces of silverware lined up next to each other. I looked through my stamps to see if I had anything shaped like a fork, knife, and spoon. The closest set I had was my old 'Have a Ball' set and the tennis racket could have been a spoon, the baseball bat could have been a knife, but I didn't see how I could represent the fork. So, I put the set back on the shelf. Karen used flowers in place of her silverware, and I liked that idea but I wanted to try something different. So I though some more, then realized that the 3 figures could be 3 people. Out came my jazz musicians. And where would they be playing? In a bandshell! The plate sort of resembles a bandshell!
I chose to go with the blue version, instead of the the gold version, since The Blues are a kind of jazz.
Background was made by masking and sponging. Figures were colored with Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol. When the figures were colored, the blue colored pencil changed colors and it clashed with the Brocade Blue in the background. So, I went over the background with colored pencils too.
If I had other colors of embossing powders, I would have put some small words of some sort under the "Just a Note" sentiment, where city names are listed on the poster.
