Inside the card reads: "Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all others." --Cicero
A distant relative from Tennessee recently surprised me with a treasure trove of priceless old family photo's. This is the card I'm sending him as a thank you.
I was in the mood to use copper here, and remembered seeing a technique on Tyra Smith's Cloud 9 site called "Copper Patina." Here's the link: http://netnet.net/~cloud9/tips/index_tips.html The layer underneath the pinecones is actually made with this technique using Handsome Hunter cardstock. I sponged White craft on first, leaving some green showing, followed by Brilliance Cosmic Copper (dries faster than Copper Encore), and finally sponged with Craft Sage. This makes a really beautiful shimmery, verdigris-looking background. I then stamped the pine needles in Stazon Forest Green and wheeled with my new jumbo Speckled wheel using Handsome Hunter. To tie into the central copper EP pinecones, I dragged the edges across the Versamark pad and embossed with copper EP.
First time using my Peaceful Wishes set, which I fell in love with the instant I saw it in the new catalog. Another stampa-ma-jig project. I was trying for a spotlight effect and almost pulled it off, but not quite. I still like it. Finished size is 6 1/4 x 5.
