I've always been sad that there wasn't a holiday in August. So I was jumping for joy that this pre-VSN challenge was to create your own holiday. My holiday is Popsicle Day and it is on August 16th, my birthday. Since it is in the middle of summer, I figured popsicles would be the best treat to celebrate.
I started by sponging bright, popsicle colors on glossy white cardstock. Then I doodled the popsicles and border around the glossy white piece. I used the fun squares stamp from Smorgasborders to create a tone-on-tone BG for each layered piece. I used wood grain paper to cut out the sticks. Then I pieced it all together, added fun colored eyelets in each corner & added a red stitched ribbon in the top corner. The finishing touch was to add the Happy Popsicle Day sentiment with my Karen Foster mini casual snap stamps at the bottom.
So, next year on August 16th, don't forget to celebrate Popsicle Day! (And thanks for the fun challenge, Emily!)
