The teapotters are sending cards to Walt, the dh of Cheryl Scrivens (CherylQuilts). Cheryl was a much loved part of SCS and went to be with the Lord a few months ago. Lisa is our hostess and she wanted to see cards that reflect peace.
This was a wood block stamp which I unmounted to stamp with but it wouldn't ink up properly in every place, even though I was using my Misti. It just would not take ink in some places. I first tried to emboss it, but that didn't work. Then I tried delicata gold and it only took in a few places. I then added chianti color ink and to my surprise some of the gold showed through, which I loved. I had to keep inking and pressing really hard and finally got it to ink up with the chianti color. In order to show you, I held it up to the light so the camera could pick up the gold on the three wise men for you to see.
I diecut the pinecone die from white gold shimmer paper and backed the pinecones with gold vellum. I used my dot snail runner to adhere the pinecones to the vellum. Then used the dot runner all over the die. I cut the image out with deckle scissors and used delicata gold around the edges, using a dauber. This is a top fold card and I used foam tape to pop up the image panel.

How frustrating but what a gorgeous result. I love the way the chianti shines through behind the gold too. Now, I guess you will have to keep that crappy stamp so you can do this again...LOL. Love the deep rich purple with the gold. So regal and elegant. Stunning card Shirl. And kudos on the photo -- I can see everything you described in great detail!

Great stamp, and worth your perseverance through the frustration. The gold and Chianti is a great combination, and I love your white foliage against the dark base.

Gorgeous purple and gold combo! I read how you struggled with this but in the end, it turned out PERFECT...like it was planned! The die-cuts are a perfect frame...
