I made this card for 3 challenges, but it is the IC challenge that helped me get this card made. This is the very first time I am playing in the IC challenge and what fun I had. Stacy is our hostess and she directed us to a pinterest board of all these glorious tags. This is the tag I chose for my inspiration: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/268316090286732634/. I really loved the black background with the polka dot front. I added the crimson rose instead of a rolled black/white rose. There is something about black and white that is pure magic for me.
The 2nd challenge I am entering this card in is the Alphabet challenge. Ann is our hostess and the letter for this week is the letter C. The C in my card is for the crimson rose.
The 3rd challenge is the Ways To Use It Challenge. Cathy is our hostess and she has chosen a wonderful challenge of "What...No Stamping!" for this week's theme. Fun!
I have had this layered rose stamp die set for about a year now and I have never used it so today was the day. I placed each of the flower and leaf dies against scraps of paper, cut the paper to fit the die, then sponged each layer accordingly from light to darkest. When the sponging and die cutting were done, then I flicked water onto the pieces to add some texture.
I took a strip of white and placed a polka dot stencil over this and sponged in black ink. I do not believe I have ever stenciled with black ink before and it was quite fun. I got ink on one side where it did not belong, so that is why I used a scalloped border die to cut that off. I hated to use this die, but when I was done, I liked it so it was meant to be I guess. I layered the rose and leaf pieces together and added the rose to the polka dot layer. Die cut a black rectangle and adhered to card front, then adhered the polka dot strip with rose to the front of the card. I decided not to add a sentiment and let the rose be the main feature of this card.
Thank you Stacy, Ann and Cathy for these terrific challenges and thank you for looking today! ~Karen.
