I play the grab supplies and go challenge all the time! I was asked to take a shift at the Recovery Home where I volunteer and I knew that the ladies would be away at a meeting so I grabbed a bag that I threw supplies in before babysitting on Wednesday. I had made Valentines with gel prints on playing cards and the prompt in a collage group was portrait. I had tried a little on Wednesday to do a larger size torn paper portrait but was having trouble with proportions. I had the idea of using a magazine image for the basic shape, but I only had a couple of sources in my bag which were free is from the grocery store that had lots of smaller ads. I was also planning to draw or layer faces on once I had the shape, but I ended up liking the effect of the blank face. I completed the top right gal while I was at the house. The page I had torn out and thrown in my bag was responsive readings and the Scripture got me thinking about my identity in Christ. I took the Acrylic paint that I had along which is a tube with a very small tip and wrote "called." I also had a magazine page that I had attempted to transfer that was a whole page of people, like you do on Instagram with multiple images forming one picture. That gave me a bounty of people around the same size. I did grab one more magazine at home because all the ladies in the ad were wearing power suits and I wanted a little diversity. I plan to make a few more and build a 12 x 12" piece with these. I used paint daubers to tie the colors together as I started with just one little leftover piece and had to grab similar hued prints for the other cards.
