This card started out for Lee's VSNMini challenge and then I realised it could go into one of Ann's Alpha challenges. W =White and finally into Ina's challenge as it's got lots of layers.
It came together within 30 mins and probably because I knew it had to be white. I have lots of paper flowers and once I had a few out of my stash I just went with the theme of white.
I started by stencilling some flowers and petals at the bottom of the card with the glass bead glitter gel. Yep they are petals lol. I popped on some clear micro beads to add more texture, dried that off and then worked out where I wanted my flowers.
I love different textures and whilst I was getting out my white twine sprinkled with silver, I spied my cotton thread. Twirled lots around and plopped that onto the card fixing it with clear gesso..that stuff is awesome.
Flowers laid back on and 2 popped up but first stapling the twine to the back. I love staples on mixed media projects and have been inspired by Susan, one of the Dirty Girls (one4joy). My twine came off the front flower so I simply stapled it back on...I was too slack to remove the first staple and I like the quirkiness of it. I didn't want to cover the cotton up and also the glass glitter gel at the bottom with my twine so I was twirling those so they just hung down.
Onto the sentiment. The card was starting to remind me of a wedding card but I've no weddings to go to but always need birthday cards and someone will love white. I was going to emboss in white and thought maybe I was overdoing the white thing, so opted for my silver embossing powder. Now we were cooking with gas lol. I distressed the edges with a Smokey grey ink.
I started by having the sentiment strip flat but I liked it slightly popped up...I'm into belly bands in my journal and it reminded me of that lol, so it's slightly up in the middle. Not sure it will stay like this when I mail it, but for now it's up.
I could have stopped here, but those who know me know it wouldn't be me. I wanted a small pop of colour and remembered a bag of beautiful butterflies dear Helen, my mate over East (Helekins) had sent me. I found the perfect one and it's just come into my garden and is about to paint these flowers bright yellow.
More sequins plonked on and done. They are white when you look down onto the card but turn yellow/pink when the card is up. I didn't know that...must be meant to be lol.
I loved the challenge Lee. I like direction.
TFL. Happy day
