I have the honour of hosting this weeks TEAparty for our very own DonnaJeanne. DonnaJeanne lost her husband in December and while home and family are changing, I thought DonnaJeanne might like to escape to Splitcoaststamperville for a while.
I have created a 'home away from home" using Lavinia houses and a little pet fox by Craftin' Desert Diva. Everything was done on copy paper, coloured with Prismacolour pencils, blending pencil, Zest it pencil blend and highlighted with a few Copics. Fussy cut.
The background is Brusho's, a ton of water and el cheapo watercolour paper. I place a few sheet of cheap watercolour paper on my desk before I do any messy type work that requires liquid inks, powders and water.
I was applying Brusho's to smooth white cardstock and got carried away with the amount of ink powder and water I used, so I plonked one of the watercolour sheets on top of the inky, watery mess and like magic, the wc paper sucked the living daylights out of the puddle on the cardstock.
I loved this piece as the purple (DonnaJeannes fav colour) is really intense, yet evenly spread. I added a bit of yellow distress ink to add some interest. The cardstock piece is in my stash for another day.
Some of my favourite backgrounds are created by moping up a mess, or cleaning stencils with baby wipes, cleaning stamps by stamping until no ink is left, paint brushes etc.
I tore the house apart looking for gingham (you would think as challenge hostess I would pick something I had plenty of....you would be wrong LOL). I found a small piece of purple checked paper
in a Graphic45 8"pad. I remodelled a roof and accessories for little foxy. Whew crisis averted.
Thank you for looking and I hope you get a chance to send DonnaJeanne a paper hug. The details can be found HERE.
P.S. Happy 600th birthday Teapotters!!

Oh Susie, my whole face has been taken over by a huge bright, wrinkle-cracking, sunshiny smile. This Combobulated Spectacularism you magically put together is, to me, the Essence of a Susie Masterpiece!!! The Detail...the Color Coordination...the Balance...the Heart you've put into it is everything that makes a True Artist. We are all so glad that you share these spurts of Spectacularism with us...and we Learn. Thank you! Smooshy Hugs, Ellen

I love your little getaway scene and I recognize that cute fox as one of the many cute critters from CDD that I simply had to have. I know DonnaJeanne will be thrilled with this card and all of the beauties in this fun galley!

This looks like quite the magical place to be, Susie. So colorful and oh so much to look at too. I love your fox with her feathery headdress and fancy tail. So cool, Susie, and sure to bring a few smiles Donna's way~

I love when a card reflects so much of the artist. I can see that every day is something you embrace no matter the circumstances and an adventure yet to take, and so your title "home away from home" speaks volumes that you make yourself feel content in all circumstances, finding the good in all things, and bringing joy in every minute you can. Susie, your work always brings joy to my heart and I know it will do the same for Donna!
