Ever since I went to Japan, I've been in love with Japanese art and textiles. Shibori is a Japanese manual resist dyeing technique, dating back to the 8th century. There were few fabrics and dyes used until the 20th century. Main fabrics were silk, hemp and later, cotton. The main dye was indigo, to a lesser extent, madder (rose) and beetroot (purple.)
