I made this card for this week's Teapot Tuesday Challenge. Jen is our hostess this week and she chose a wonderful challenge called, "Just in Case." We are making a card for a fellow SCSer Chris's (Chrissyd723) MIL, so we are asked to case a card from Chris's gallery. I had so much fun going through Chris's gallery. I finally chose this card to case of Chris's because I like the swing-fold design: TWIST JOY TO THE LORD SIDE ONE by Chrissyd723 at Splitcoaststampers. I ended up not going with a swing-fold card design, but this has a similar look and feel to Chris's card. Chris's MIL likes peach and sage green so that helped determine the colors of this card. The vase is a multi-step stamp, but I just used the very base layer, stamped it off twice, then stamped it so I just had a shadow of color to work with. Then I used copic marker C-3 to swipe color across the vase from side to side. I was going for a rustic pottery look here. The flowers are 2-step stamping, then I added a dot of Y13 copic marker to the flower centers. I also added clear wink of stella to the flower centers for some added sparkle and shine. The woodgrain is stamped on the cardstock. I really thought this particular sentiment was especially important for Chris's MIL to keep her going during this difficult time because it is so important to celebrate life, even when it is hard. The inside sentiment is one of my favorites from Precious Kitty Stamps (preciouskittyscreations.blogspot.com) that says, " Courage does not always roar. Sometimes, it is the still, quiet voice at the end of the day that says we will try again tomorrow.
I am also entering this card into the Alphabet Challenge for the letter L for lace doily. My thoughts and prayers were with Sandy as I was making this card and she will continue to be in my prayers. Thanks for looking today! ~Karen.
