Our cards are going to 12 year old Arman from Avalon Elementary school in Orlando. We are sending him paper hugs, our way to keep paying the kindness forward.
Food, sport and Harry Potter are our themes of choice this week. I have never read a Harry Potter book or seen any of the movies, I think it's time I rectified that.
I bought this fun digi image from Polkadoodles - oh my goodness what a fabulous collection of images. I printed several different sizes of the image as I wasn't sure what I was going to make. I plan on putting little Harry on a bookmark for Arman.
Both images are printed on copy paper and coloured with Prismacolour Pencils, Zest it pencil blend and highlighted with a couple of Copics.
To maximise the shine in his hair I was very firm with the Zest-it and the colourless blending pencil. The greater pressure results in more shine. Adding a Copic marker over the top makes it super shiny.
I gently rubbed the walnut stain foam blending tool over the finished image to take away that "just coloured" look, then finished off with a few more flicks of Copic E39 in his hair.
The moon was made using the negative of a circle die cut and a good old silver Versa Colour cube ink (still as inky as the day I bought it 15 years ago). Stars were added with Stickles.
Next step was to adhere Harry to the moonlight background - it needed something, so I trimmed the black panel down a bit and mounted it on a panel I had in my mixed media stash. Job done.
I hope you get a chance to join in and get inky. Thanks so much for looking.

I have read HP many times, seen repeats of the movies - all started by a student at a school I was school nurse at - she got me addicted! You did your card so perfectly, love how you did the entire card.

Very cool Susie...I love how you walk us through your process. The method behind your madness, if you will. You put a lot of thought into this card and I'm sure Arman will love it. And, the bookmark will be a nice little treat. Great job posting your first challenge. Welcome to the TEAm!!

I took a peek this morning, and saw your fabulous moon and fun Harry Potter, magically coloured. Hedwig looks sweet, and your stash background is suitably mysterious looking.
I think it's very obvious that the first three books were written very much for children but as the series took off, they changed a bit and became geared towards an older readership. I still haven't read the last one, I should get it from the library.

Oh Susie - the wizard of colouring. Just look at that shine on HP's boots too. Your colouring has really bought this image to life in such a magical way. Must admit I am having trouble with this - all I can come up with is "owl" and that is about it but my owl images all look too "sweet" and very un Potterish.
