Thank you Pat and to the entire Teapotter Team who bring our teaparty requests to life.
Our cards are going to Ellen (aka Eager Beaver) this week. Ellen writes the warmest and kindest comments on so many of our cards. She takes everything in her stride with such an amazing outlook, and always puts others first. Ellen's wants to share her story and urge all of us not to put off our mammograms ...ever!
Ellen has always added the funniest comments to my crazy bird cards so I figured I should bring Sassy Alana and her BFF, Nancy out to play. Sadly Nancy has a bung knee as a result of a previous skating incident...we don't talk about that. I digress, the girls are off to have their mammograms, then a spot of lunch!
Both girls are coloured with Inktense and Prismacolour pencils and a white paint pen. Nancy is wearing knock-off Dylusions gold boots and Alana's ice skates are curtesy of a Sassy Cheryl digi image that I wrecked. If I muck up an image that has a hat or shoes, I cut them off and put them in a little box to use at a later date. Their tulle skirts are handmade.
The background is a combination of Dylusions ink sprays and distress inks. I stenciled on the clock and brick wall with model paste, they looked way too white, so I quickly scrapped the paste off and plopped it on the alfoil sheet that had some Dylusions ink still on it.
I mixed everything together, then reapplied a thin layer of very lightly coloured paste. I then added a few doohickies and a doodled border.
Thanks so much for looking and I hope you get a chance to send some Splitcoaststamperville love Ellen's way.

I always love your funky birds Susie. These two could go out on the town after their mamograms...they are dressed so well. Those hand made tulle skirts are fabulous. The teal bg and berry outfits look great together. Fabulous creation my friend.

Instead of Blue-footed boobies, I think these birds are Boot-footed boobies! They are definitely the trend setters! Love your story of their adventures! I absolutely love the background you created for them. Their lacy outfits are wonderful, too!

Susie.....I'm afraid you caught me speechless. For a moment anyway. Thanks so much. Love you!
I hope everyone REALLY does keep up with their mammograms! The earlier you catch it the better the quality of your recovery. I was shocked to learn I have 3 different types of breast cancer. As I'm going through this the doctors and therapists have warned me of things that may be going to happen to me from the chemotherapy and the mastectomy that can have an effect on me. I've noticed they don't tell you these things all at once in the beginning. They just slip it in here and there so as to not overwhelm you. Things such as: you can have nausea for months and may not be able to hold down a job; you can get edema from the operation and have your arm swell up quite a bit and have pain in it when you reach out to turn on the lamp next to your chair or take something out of a cupboard, if you can even extend your arm that far; you can, and probably will, get neuropathy (numbness) in your feet, legs and hands which can cause you to walk around like you're drunk and lose your balance easily and have trouble picking up small items like coins, paperclips, little things you want to attach to a card you're making, etc.; writing with pen or pencil becomes harder; you will drop things you think you're still holding on to. And the neuropathy probably will not go away entirely, but it might lessen in intensity. You probably will always be tired during the weeks of chemo, especially if you also need to have radiation. Also, after the operation, you will probably have several narrow plastic tubes about 20 or so inches long coming out of one or both of your sides with a grenade shaped flexible plastic container attached to their ends that you must empty of drainage several times a day for up to about 6 weeks. I'm sure there are things they haven't told me yet. I have now or have had all of the above (except for the nausea, thank you God!) and I'm sorry if I've offended anyone with this information, but I really wish someone had been this straight forward with me about the perils of breast cancer years ago. It had always been just something people got and other people collected donations for. I never ever had any real knowledge of anyone experiencing it. It is not a good thing and I pray no one else will ever have to go through this. But you know that's not realistic. But you know how to limit your own personal experience with breast cancer. PLEASE, get your mammograms! We have to get real with our lives!
Splitcoast Stampers is a village of some very special people who are talented and caring people. I wish you all God's blessings and a special wish that none of you will ever experience any type of cancer or other horrid diseases.

OMGosh Susie....we missed you...so glad you are back. I've just had my story fix for this week! ROFL+more with laughter!
Aside from all that, this is FABULOUS! Love the outcome of your finished mixed media background and doodling! For some reason, all your mishing and moshing and add/ fix your background reminded of someone twisting and turning with a too tight girdle! Do they even wear those nowadays! Heaven help me...glad they went out when I was young!
Loving to see the sassy girls back, dressed to the "nines" as my grandma used to say. I empathize with Nancy's bung knee...maybe she needs a knee replacement. I can give you my phone number so she can call before she goes under the knife!
FAVED! Of course!

Your card is so adorable. I just love your crazy birds and the stories you have for them. Their attire is awesome. Poor Nancy and her bum knee, it sure looks painful. Ellen is going to love your card.
