I have made quite a few of these fanciful flowers over the years but always just blowing through a straw - WOW - SO much easier using the canned air!!!
I didn't have alcohol so started by spritzing a bit of lens cleaner (for eyeglasses) on glossy cardstock ( it smells like mostly alcohol . . ) Dropped in cranberry alcohol ink and gave it several puffs with canned air. continued adding drops of ink and blowing till I was satisfied with my flower "petals" . I added the tiniest drop of yellow for a stamen and pretty much let it just sit where it was then dotted on some bits of stickles for the pollen puffs. So far so good . . . now to add some greenery to anchor my blossom - I spritzed on a bit more lens cleaner , dropping in some lettuce ink and continued with the blowing process to finish my mystical cactus flower. It actually took more time to pick a color to frame this than it did to make it - Tried a multitude of colors before settling on a piece of eggplant colored cardstock that really made my flower pop.
