Mary is our hostess in the Color Challenge this week, and she has asked us to use Real Red, Cucumber Crush and Marina Mist. The dessert option this week is "Christmas."
I am so grateful for this challenge, because I am behind on making my cards this year. I was happy to have the opportunity to use a new background stamp and die set from Catherine Pooler's Winterhaven Collection. I cut the wreath from watercolor paper, then colored with ink pads and a waterbrush. I used Real Red on the berries, but then covered them with red Stickles. To make the background layer, I stamped with VersaMark then heat embossed with white embossing powder. Then I used the Marina Mist stamp pad and a waterbrush to color the unembossed areas.
When I started to put things together, I realized that the wreath against the background was too busy, and the gold "Joy" didn't show up. Fortunately, I still had the inside of the die cut wreath. I think "Joy" looks much better against the plain white background.
(BTW, Joy is my middle name. Yes, I am Barbara Joy Joyce!)
One more Christmas card to add to the stash!
Thanks for stopping by, and please play along with us this week!

I just love a holly and berry wreath and this one is really lovely with all the sparkle in the berries. I love the inlaid sentiment with hint of gold. You have made a wonderful Christmas card using this week's colors. ~Karen.
