I made this card for the letter L Alphabet Challenge. The L in my card is for the leaves. This is a really fun technique that I have become a bit addicted to lately. The leaf and acorn stamps are two-step stamps. You have a solid base layer and an outline/detail layer. Using my MISTI, I started out using the solid base layer of each leaf, inked it in white craft ink, stamped the leaf, heat set it, inked it in white again and heat set it again. Leaving the solid stamp in place on the MISTI, I cleaned it off and dried it. Then I took finger dauber sponges and inked them up using distress inks and sponged the ink onto this stamp. I stamped the image, then inked it up again with distress inks and sponge daubers and stamped it again. When all the leaves were done, then I heat embossed each leaf using the detail stamp and gold embossing powder. I heat embossed the sentiment, then promptly dropped a distress ink pad onto my finished card (grrrr). So, I inked up the acorn using scrap paper. I used Delicata Copper ink on the bottom section of the acorn so it is really shimmery looking. I fussy cut the acorn out and it just barely hides the ink blob. This piece of kraft card stock was in my stash. I had already die cut a piece out of it and used it on another card so this is the negative piece that was left behind. I thought this was interesting so I placed some gold mirror card stock behind the die cut area to highlight it. Thanks for looking today. ~Karen.

This is perfect for L, Karen. Love the different shades and colors you got and that is such an interesting negative cut and using the gold to show it's effect is so pretty. The copper sequins surrounding your sentiment brings this all together. Thanks for describing your process in achieving these wonderfully colored leaves. This is a lovely fall card!

Beautiful! I keep looking for the blob of ink you're talking about, and I just don't see it. So great job covering up what you think was a mistake. I just love your card, especially the edge on the left. I love the negative space with the gold mirror card stock. Your sequins are the perfect finishing touch. TFS!

So thankful for ways to hide boo boo's! I've heard it said that there is always a way to fix an unwanted ink spot, ya just need to put yer thinkin' cap on there Missy! (Southern Accent on the last sentence). And you did just that. Pretty mix of colors for your leaves, Karen! Lovely touches of gold and copper too! Very eye appealing~

Super work on this beautiful card, Karen. Those leaves are so colorful. Fall leaves are really turning here now and so gorgeous. I can see many pretty trees outside my windows. Oh, and I love the color copper.

I think the acorn looks perfect, Karen,a lucky accident. Your technique sounds like an evolution of the faux whitewash...but definitely needing a stamp platform to carry out. Wonderful effect.

Beautiful autumn card with your softly colored leaves, Karen. The gold embossing on the leaves is an elegant touch. I like how you have arranged the leaves like they are tumbling down.
