This is for KellyJean's fun "Punched Washi" challenge. We did have the option to die-cut, which is a good thing seeing as most of my punches struggle to punch cardstock.
I have a love hate relationship with washi tape. I have heaps of them and sadly half are no longer sticky, the printed paper has separated from the sticky bit. Since I discovered this a few months ago, I now use the remaining tapes as masking tape, I figure I might as well get some use out of them before they go to the craft graveyard.
I love my Julie Nutting doll stamps and I really don't know why I rarely use them...oh well this cutie got inky today.
I started by placing different washi tapes on a scrap of cardstock and running the feather die through the Vagabond lots of times.
I stamped the image onto a scrap of card, then layered the feathers to resemble a skirt. I then stamped the image on the front panel, did lots of scoring (which does not show up in the photo), coloured her shoes, bodice and headband with a black pen.
Finally I glued on her skirt, added some twine and placed the panel on a card base that had been edged with more washi tape.
I tried to channel my inner Angie (Ohmypapers!) when staging the photo. Thank you for looking.
Tip: I used my MISTI to stamp the image, the card has a linen finish so multiple stamping was required. A lot of my cling stamps don't cling anymore. I use a swipe of glue from a kids school glue stick to adhere it to MISTI. Just wipe the glue off MISTI and the stamp with an alcohol free baby wipe.

You should be a fashion designer, Susie. I would buy that dress in a heartbeat. I love the idea of using the feather die cut. You are sooooo creative...always coming up with something unuque.

I knew even from just reading the notification email that this was going to be a wonderful fashion creation, but I wasn't expecting all that black and white style. Those look like ballet pumps she s wearing, I think she is getting ready for Swan Lake...there's a black swan in there isn't there. I always love your feathery creations.

Oh wow you're such a creative lady indeed!! LOVE this stunning design with the washi tape for her dress!! I honestly don't use washi tape all that much and really forget about using it, but you have given me great inspiration to start doing something with it again!!

Susie, Susie, Susie.....another Maav-el-lus creation!!!!! I love that doll and you've certainly upped it many notches! Love it, most definitely! I also love the black and white approach and the narrow frame of washi. Washi tape is one of the few things I've never bought. Suggestion: maybe all your old washi tape that gave up the ghost (ah...another weird expression) could be glued together overlapping each other and then shaped and put together to make a REAL skirt. Stranger things have been done with Duct Tape. Just a suggestion. Have a great weekend (gluing all your old washi tape together?)!!!

I truly thought washi tape was just a fad and haven't purchased much of it but after looking at this incredible gown with OMG, washi tape, I'll be CASEing you df! I've done paper piecing of the bodice and gown for "Penelope" (I don't know why I named her this!) in the past and was happy with the results, but after seeing this, I'm crushed. Ok, not so much, but my Penelope is getting a new dress soon!!!
