This is my card for this week's WTUI challenge - you can find out all about it here: WT586 ~ Roll Up!! Roll Up!! .
I had such fun making this! I saw a card in the gallery recently that had a ship sliding in and out of a bottle. No instructions and googling "ribbon slider" brought up mostly ribbon slider hardware, and the pull-treat type card, but with the help of my paper-engineering books I put this together. I knew I also wanted to use Circus Train, but with the balloon I couldn't make a card with the train extended to its full length, so I just clustered the wagons together as if they were on a fair-ground.
Images stamped with masking, and coloured with pencils. I sponged and stamped in the sky and foreground.
Stamped, coloured and cut out the balloon.
Stamped the sentiment.
For the slider, I cut two parallel slits from the bottom of the card to the top, a little wider than the ribbon I was planning to use. I have two little strips of paper folded around the "track" made by these two slots and stuck, so that they will slide freely up and down the track. One of these is stuck to the balloon, one to the basket. Then from the back of the card, I used glue to attach the ribbon itself to these two loops only. It's threaded through a slot at the top and bottom of the track, and each end is finished off with a little tab made with the Modern Label Punch.

How fun is this!!! I will have to watch this tutorial right now. I also have a balloon stamp from PTI...somewhat different...but it would be so sweet for this technique...or maybe some little birds...
I haven't been on splitcoast in a few weeks...miss it! I find Spring time is usually busy trying to get the gardens in order, and doing a bit of organizing and cleaning. Gardens are looking good for the time being, but I still need to get to my windows...eeeee....I'd rather be stamping for sure.
Try the Tri-Shutter technique again. It's really not difficult if you follow the tutorial - I attached in my details. It is quite time consuming...but I find the results are worth it...and the card is very sturdy with all the layers.
Thanks for sharing!
