This may not look like a birthday card, but it's for my BFF who loves my kitties almost as much as I do. I couldn't resist using this image.
This was my first attempt at coloring with my new Zig markers - it was kind of a yay-boo thing. The colors are beautiful, and they are extremely workable, but, oh my gosh - I had a terrible time trying to control seepage, even when adjacent areas were dry. That's the biggest reason my little cutie and the gift are fussy cut, and her dress is paper pieced.
I stamped her an additional time to create the background, and adhered the colored, fussy cut images in place with Scotch Quick Dry glue. There are several areas of the image that are highlighted with Gelly Roll Stardust pens, and her necklace and bracelet are colored with a gold metallic pen.
The image is matted with an altered scalloped rectangle die cut in DCVW glitter paper. The die was longer than my image, so it took a bit of creative cutting to get it to the right size. The same was true of the sentiment - some days, you just can't win! The sentiment is adhered with foam tape for dimension.
Now that it's finished, I'm fairly pleased with it, but there was more than one occasion when I was ready to toss it.
As always, thanks for looking!

Oh, Jody, I am just now seeing this adorable birthday card! Your girlfriend must have loved this! What a sweet image, and I giggled at the sentiment! So, you struggled some at first with your Zig markers, eh? I've been thinking about them, but I have my Distress Inks, so I'm holding off for now. I have so much else to use! Hehe! Anyway, I love how you've paper-pieced her skirt, and it's beautifully colored, and I love your layout with the scallops. Sweetness! Hugs, my friend! xoxo
