This is for Toni's fun and very timely challenge - use scraps. My desk got out of control this week, this challenge has been a great way to tidy up.
The dry embossed background was a failed attempt at doing Sabrina's great box fold challenge on Monday, the penguins stamp, modling paste and glitter were from Tuesdays challenge.
The tree trunk started out as white cardstock, after dry embossing I smacked several different distress inks onto a sheet of aluminium foil, squirted on lots of water and used foam blending tools to scrub on the inky water.
Water is the real hero when using distress inks, I get much more depth of colour by scrubbing and swishing layers of diluted distress inks as opposed to picking up ink on the foam blender straight for the ink pad. You will use quarter the amount of ink using the smack & squirt method - this is probably why you do not see this technique demonstrated by Timmy and his gang LOL.
MISTI stamping tool is fabulous for these little penguins, I gave them 4 inkings.
We don't celebrate Thanks Giving here in Australia, but I am thankful for all the wonderful Splitcoasties I have 'met' here.
Thank you for looking.

OMG, how flippin' adorable!!! I'll have to check out the challenge but love, love, love this card! We all have tons of scraps but how ingenious and thinking out of the "wood" box. ;)
I, too, am so thankful to SCS! SCS has such creative and generous participants. I'm encouraged and bless you all for your leadership and direction.
