My friend Christine (calex on SCS) came over and we started some mixed media backgrounds together. She brought her Distress paints and we laid down a layer of them first. Then I put a stencil over it and embossed with paste. After she left, I started playing with adding more to the base layer. For this card, I laid down a thin layer of gesso to tone the paint down a bit, then spritzed with two shades of Fireworks sprays - lime and teal (two of my friend Jo-Anne's favourite colours). I then cut out a poppy die on watercolour paper and painted it (using orange - Jo-Anne's other favourite colour). I created a frame for it in ivory cs and sponged the frame with a bit of Antique Linen ink. I put it together with a bit of the flower coming out of the frame, added a sentiment, and it's ready to post for her birthday next week.

My goodness, this is worthy of being framed! The color you choose for the poppies is gorgeous against that breathtaking background. LOVE the textures and the colors and the shapes you created with the stencils and all the other wonderful stuff that went into making the background. Lovely creation! TFS

Susan Bri, this is one beautiful card! The flowers are magnificent and the bg is wonderfully creative and artistic. I was just reading all the comments/ideas/links you've left in the forum area concerning bisters/brushos. Your taking the time to provide others with links and tips is truly the bonus of being a member of this site. Thank you. Oh, to wake up one day and know that I am you, would be more delight than I think I could handle.
