Mary is our hostess this week, and she has given us a beautiful color combination: Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi and Basic Gray. The dessert option is either to make a summer or floral card, or to use this color combo for a Christmas card. My other card for this challenge has flowers, and one serving of dessert is plenty! ☺
Now, I must confess that this card is almost an exact copy of a wonderful card made by Barbara Anders. I fell in love with her card, and she was so helpful to me in learning how to use the plaid background builder. I really cannot thank her enough. Barbara, I hope you take this CASE as the ultimate compliment!
So it's a CASE. Things I changed: different colors, different sentiment, didn't round the bottom corners (because I forgot!), different DS paper, slightly different banner shape (because I don't have the dies she used).
I'd like to share a trick I learned in my Copic Certification class. If you are using Copics to color, and you'd like to put a pattern on your image (for example, polka dots on a dress or woodgrain texture on a tree trunk), you color only that portion first, and nothing else on the image. Then you mist your rubber stamp with "0" ink refill, and stamp on the colored image. The misted stamp actually pushes ink away from the colored area, leaving the image of the stamp lighter. Then you can color in all the rest of the image. The portion of the misted stamp that hits the uncolored part of the card evaporates, and does not affect later coloring. You can see this effect on my little girl's dress.
This card is for our daughter and son-in-law's 23rd anniversary.
Thanks for stopping by, and please join in our Color Challenge this week!

I love everything about this! Coloring-spectacular! Layering-spot on! Not to mention the ability to make me smile after only one cup of coffee! Miracle!! I love this, Barbara!
