I was very interested to try out Dina's Sanded Pencil Background, which was in the Inkling this week.
So, I combined it with Ky's Faux Tiles MIX69 challenge, using her tape grid in place of the stencil Dina used.
Watercolour paper, gridded with quilters tape, then misted and then I sanded watercolour pencil over it.
When it was dry I took the tape off. Stamped the sentiment, added the grass, and drew a rough edge in with Black Enamel Accents. I added a K&Co Dragonfly when the colours seemed a good match. Harrison Hedgehog is stamped on watercolour paper and coloured with Winsor & Newton watercolour (red heart is Sakura glaze pen, acting as a resist). I embossed him with Swoss Dots and swiped over the embossing with a darker brown. Little Liquid Pearl flowers were added to the grass, and then I decided I was done .
Fun tutorial, Dina - thanks so much!!
I chose this verse because for me it speaks a lot to trying new things out. Expect the best and not the worst.

Look at you, you did another one and it looks fabulous, too. You are good with this technique. I made three sheets trying to get one card to turn out. My tape stuck twice and ruined the first two. On the third one, I used tape that was made for this technique. Wonder why I did not do that to begin with.

WOW! That is a great card! I wouldn't have thought to pair this technique with Dina's but it turned out so well I'm putting on my list of things to try. Thank you so much for playing the Mix-ability challenge, and for knocking me out of my box!

I love your hedgie, Sabrina. I love your sentiment too. I've promised myself to try more techniques as well. It's so easy to get stuck in the style we're comfortable with isn't it? And look at you! You took it one step further and combined 2 techniques!! You inspire me, my friend. I better get busy.

Sabrina this is so pretty and cute at the same time. Another card that would make a nice wall hanging. The 2 techniques work great together. Using tape instead of a stencil makes cleaner lines which appeals to my control fresk side.
