I made this so my son would send a thank you to his cousins for his Christmas presents. Boys sending out girly thank you cards really don't work. So I made this masculine card. After all, he received sports type stuff from them, so it should be masculine.
I really didn't have a clear idea when I started. I went to my stamp sets, and saw the leaf from the Touch of Nature set and knew this was the right set to use.
I started with my die cut. White, then the espresso. Then I stamped off the leaf twice with old olive. I saw the branch and knew I had to incorporate it somehow. I had a piece of white that was perfect and I stamped on the end thinking I was going to cut out the image, then decided against it, and then added the thank you. I also stamped the butterfly thinking I would use it on top of the leaves.
I added the olive strip to tie in with the colors used when stamping.
I wanted masculine colors so I just got the smoky slate and thought it would fit with the colors, but it was kind of boring, so I rummaged through my many styles of dsp and found this blue paisely that worked fabulously.
Once I started putting it together, I realized the white thank you piece needed something so I ran the edges through my espresso ink. The butterfly wasn't going to fit on the main image and I didn't want it to detract from what was going on, so I cut it out, popped it up and added it to the corner.
tfl and have a great day and fun stamping today!
